In the early 80's, the Classic Rock format began to become popular, and Steve Miller's older hits were revived.

However, Miller didn't realize this and wrote this this cheesey New Wave-esque song to get a hit, rather than sticking to his older stylings.

Abracadabra reached #1, and Stever Miller lost some fans for selling out and doing a musical style that was popular, but gained many more for it.

@Fluffyinsanity Yeah, he did lose some fans after this song was released but given how popular he was at the time, odds are he probably gained some new fans who, after listening to this, thought, "Not bad" and then went on to listen to his other works.

@Fluffyinsanity Agreed; this song reminds me of The Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey"...a song that, when you listen to it, makes you think, "Not bad" and gets you to listen to more of their music.
