I agree with Tossed Dwarf, its a good reference to start from. However I think the song also delves into the imperfections of life on earth, suggesting that "one day all of our scars will disappear, all of our pain will fade away" later on we see "on that day all the scales will swing to set all the wrongs to right, until that day, all of our scars will still remain". This could be alluding to the second coming of Christ as well, but that is totally hypothesis. I'm pretty sure that the song is a message, like all of Thrice's songs, to a far greater audience that just Christians reminding us of the importance of loving through building "bridges to another's heart".
