Lyric discussion by davidbeauy

If you look throughout our cultural history, some of the people through the centuries to have the greatest impact -- Oscar Wilde, Leonard Bernstein, Tennesse Williams, Allen Ginsburg, Jean Genet -- are gay/bisexual/of the homo persuasion. At first thought one would think to "Lisp" is a negative characteristic -- a gay stereotype. The singer is saying "you and I have been blessed with the LUCKY LISP" -- a gay passing of the torch if you will. It's about taking what's been given to you (whether you are black and have been blessed with athletic skills, nerdy and have blessed with genius, etc) and making the most of it despite the obstacles of predjudice and the like.
