This sounds like a family that attempts to put all the problems of their life aside during the holidays to celibrate being together.

"It's what I always wanted Could never have had too many of these"

Even though she doesn't like it she accepts it semi-gracefully

"Well I, quit kicking me under the table I'm trying; will somebody make her shut up about it? Can we settle down please?"

I'd say that's definately a family with kids.

At the end though there is an overall sense of dread and foreboding. Although the family has put aside it's hopelessness they all know it will return soon enough so at the end you hear

"Get me outta here (x13)"
