I agree with Caz1981, this song was rumoured to be written about that summer they share and how close they had become, even when they later grew apart, which is sad because Robbie doesn't seem to keep his beloved one for long.
When he talks about Eternity, off course he doesn't mention Geri -who also holds a heavy past-, but he does mention spending one of his happiest holidays with new friends...and that songs describes it...describes friendship in such a touching way, the way I used to felt for my former special friend, back then in 2001 :'(
