I think it's a song about addiction. It says "when you owed rent and you were broke/through recessions and addictions." All before that line it talks about how your body is failing but "You're obsessed with finding a new brain" because you want to rid yourself of your addictions. I think also maybe the cougar's nest part might mean something about how you choose what happens to you. it says "there's no accidental death/when you're the indian in the cougar's nest." just my thoughts, may be way off...i love this song
