The morning star ( or "Mourning", like the feeling) was lucifer.......anyway the song is pretty simple (and still kick ass) the girl in the song is ugly or it is more like that society thinks she is ugly, and the girl basically needs to sell her soul to the mourning star...which means she needs to get plastic surgery or conform to what society thinks is beauty but in the end there is a whole realization to the common theme "beauty is on the inside"
the only part of the song im not clear on is who is talking (not litterally), the speaker seems to have pity on the girl but then has an ominus knowledge, i think its just the narrarator and not a man or the society figure........the litteral english translation does kinda hack the beautiful german poetry (no offense)
