"I found you, a tattooed tramp A dirty daugher from the labour cans I laid you down on the grass of a clearing You wept but your soul was willing"

makes it seem like the narrator thinks he's doing something good for her by having sex with her- he found her in the labour cans (camps? I thought it was camps) and was fixated on her.

my first impression was rape.

Exactly, he has no respect for her. She is a kind of property, a trophy. The sadness of the song is his incredible self-absorption. He's is an absolute narcissist, unaware of her feelings. When he's saying hold tight, we're just beginning, they've already leapt. Then he tells the whole story: The forbidden love, the forced trysts, meeting him on his vast veranda so they can "both go down together." He's a misunderstood rich boy who punishes his parents with suicide and murder.
