yeah, i love this song so much. for the longest time, i used it as a lullaby. there is such an air of finality and things finishing in the song, i thought 'twas a great way to end my day; by falling asleep to it. then one night, i realize a deeper meaning in the bridge: "A resting place for broken ships, a cemetery for the humble, noone's here to make you stumble..." i think that reese is comparing our souls to ships. and when you become saved, 'tis like you're dying. i always liked the idea that i was buried in a "cemetery for the humble." the first step to admitting that you need a savior is humility and becoming humble. and then the most passionate part of the song, when reese sings, "If Jesus Christ is truth, then I am mostly lies. If Jesus Christ is love, then I have failed to try. If Jesus Christ is life, then please, just let me die! LET...THIS...DIE!" i always feel that that phrase is referring to submitting your life to Christ; completely and wholly becoming humble and dying to yourself. there is probably a duel meaning, since some of the previous posts have claimed that reese stated that this song is about how FIF's fans hold them up on a pedestol. and i can see how that might be a part of the song, but the overall impression that i derive from it is in the bridge and last verse.
