The euphoric sound of this song has a very rushing, "rollercoaster" feel to it, so I picture this relationship in the song being just that...an emotional rollercoaster. In that context, notice how sparse the happier, lilting parts are from each other in between those wide, disorienting squalls of noise. Just magnificent.
