Porcelina is a beautiful word, but I wouldn't name a child that because it sounds too much like porcelin, which sounds like toilet to me.

However, in the way it is used in this song, it doesn't make me think of a toilet. Pyrrhic has an interesting theory, but I am pretty much 100% sure that's not what the song was written about.

I like how you guys like to pick out certain lines from a song that fit your description, but you never take the entire song into account, you only mention the lines that fit your idea. It doesn't work that way. They wouldn't write a song with only half of the lyrics meaning something.

What I get from this song is that he's met a girl... yes a girl, you've all seemed to be missing the fact (or leaving it out) that he seems to mention a person, or a girl waving at him... anyhoo he's met a girl who changed his life. And then she's gone. I'm probably wrong, but that's kind of the way I see it.

And please... to everyone who uses this site... stop thinking that every effing song is about drugs. They aren't.

i see what youre saying, but a lot of songwriters actually do basically write songs where only half the lines mean something. sometimes you just have to make it rhyme or enhance the atmosphere of the song, not every line is packed with a single meaning. that doesnt make the song any less great or meaningful, its just what you have to do a lot of the time when youre writing. and yeah it pisses me off too when people think every song is about drugs (especially alice in chains songs) but now im starting to think this one actually...

Porcelina is the cowrie shell: A sea-shell -- as wikipedia explains: "Indeed the term "porcelain" derives from the old Italian term for the cowrie shell (porcellana) due to their similar translucent appearance."
