To me its about a reationship, where the two seem to be in an argument hence

The first time she knocked
beacause the girl/guy started to hear things from her friends and others that the guy/girl was up to no good, they then start to wonder about it and it caused them to split.But really he/she really did do nothing bad at all And all he wants to remember is that night they spent by the bay. "Saying hey remember I always love you.".
Which is exactly how i feel about my girl. She listened to her friends and they where kinda right. and since she wondered about it so much it drove us apart. But i only want her to know that no matter what i still love her.
