"she gets her dinner there" "she pulls her dinner from her pocket" jane's buying drugs. she doesn't need to eat because she gets all her sustenance from the heavy drugs she's doing. she buys her dinner on the corner, heroin comes in little balloons. when she gets home she pulls the balloons, her dinner, from her pocket and prepares it.

this song is so wistful and right on because it captures the dreamy melancholy of a day/life spent on drugs. there is the vague wish for a better life, a tomorrow, but for now the lure and pull of the dope is just too all encompassing.
