The deepest pain is hating someone you love...being so jaded as to hate love its self. He hates how he can't make himself not be in love with her. She's consumed him entirely: "Fuck you Lucy for defining my existence"
My favorite is the stanza that begins with "Gettin' in a million memories just to forget her" and ends with "No, I'm not okay, and I don't know what to do" That's exactly how it feels.....exactly.
I would have been more well written but i'm flustered. David, if you read this, thank you for sending me this song.
