Lyric discussion by Helixi

(One of the handful of people). I first heard this song in 1988 and it blew me away. Of course it's about suicide, that's a given. It's also a common theme of the next world being a better place, like Death of a Disco dancer and There's a Light That Never Goes Out.

I would like to offer the suggestion that this death may not be suicidal. When he said "deep in the cell of my heart I really want to go" and since suicide is tipically obviously wanted. He is saying that he wants to go so it may be simply old age or terminal illness.
