This song has a commom message among Tool songs: pushing limits and excuse the term, "maximizing human potential". An incredible line is that we are "capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable." I find that to be true but there are obstacles in the way. And in the beginning of the song, Maynard sounds as if he's just about to give up. Instead of "pushing the envelope", he's happy with a self-indulgent, pitiful existence. This song has a lot of similarities to Lateralus. Although Maynard never gives you the exact details, "there is so much more that beckons us" and if we can't figure that out, then we can "find peace within the emptiness".
