Indeed this is a song about an actual cab ride taken by the boys in SF. And listening to Kelly speak about him, he definately did NOT like the guy. I think it's against songmeanings.net's acceptable use policy to actually repeat Kelly's words verbatim but something along the lines of "He spent his whole damn **ing life in that cab, and I hope the *** never leaves it" By all accounts the cab driver was very critical of them ("No artists anymore / You're only in it now / To make more, more, more") and anything else he could bring to mind, venting his spleen on almost any topic he could. After the cab ride, he put on a big smile and said "Have a Nice Day" as if he hadn't just ranted at them! So that in essence is what this song is about, the big 'smiling-face' americanism which is so false it's become habit for so many people no matter what we really think or say.
