Taking steps back through the words
I should’ve said to you.
They all got lost, you went away
And I feel sick and you just don’t care anymore
Hours to be with you
Minutes of me in you
And I can’t feel this happening
So tie my hands back and make me feel you coming down
I’m coming down

Chorus:
And you don’t care
Your face is on a billboard
And you’re everywhere
You don’t care much for interviews
Your gone… you’ve gone away
If you don’t like being hurt then please don’t stay
It’s hard to wave goodbye
From airplanes when I
Just don’t think that you can see
I taper off
And say it’s never worth the pain
Sometimes it is.

[Chorus]

God I wish I could make this right
I wish that there was something worth the time
For her to give to me

A phone call from LA is my present
There’s nothing left for me to give
I wish I could
And I know that I should
But you know I know I won’t

[Chorus]

If you don’t like being hurt then get away
If you don’t like being hurt then please don’t stay

General Comment:Didn't josh write this song? Well anyway I think that this song is maybe about him leaving for Something Corporate and to be in the band and to tour.

General Comment:i love the if you don't like being hurt then please don't stay line. To me, that just speaks volumes to how incredible this song is both lyrically and musically. Anyway, i think the song is a bout how he keeps leaving his girlfriend to work on his music and she's getting upset, because its a life she'd never want for herself. Basically, she doesn't see why he needs to be famous when he has her. Although he feels badly, he can't let his dreams go, so as much as he loves her he has to leave. He doesn't want her to stay because he knows she's not happy, so he breaks it off even though it kills him for her sake

General Comment:i think this about someone who left the band after a while it sounds like someone quit the band before or someone left them hanging when they needed them but the whole band is like you should do something but they both knw they wont

I love the part when it says "I taper off and say it’s never worth the pain. Sometimes it is"

General Comment:I have to concur with amberloves' second intuition whereas i think this song is about the bitter inevitable end of a relationship in the sense that he wants to give more but fate/fame has different plans "It’s hard to wave goodbye from airplanes" and "A phone call from LA is my present
There’s nothing left for me to give" Its a song about the last reminiscence of a relationship which was too little too late and how he hated leaving her thats my take anyways another great song by SC

General Comment:The whole song sounds like an attempt to get back with her, or at least the wanting to, but then the ever-so-famous "If you don’t like being hurt then please don’t stay", makes me think otherwise. Or at least think that there is more to it than the simple wanting to get back with someone.
