this song definitely has to do with sharing feelings and emotions..and how no one understands the best except yourself. this is definitely one of the best songs by something corporate and i'm so happy they put it on leaving through the window...if you don't have the cd yet, please be sure to get it...you'll be doing yourself a favor and will become that much better of a person because it is so intense

I love their new cd. This song is probably one of my favorites [besides the astronaut, you're gone, and cavanaugh park]. this song has so much emotion. and the lyrics are great.

i agree that the new CD is awesome but it was missing that Piano rock sound that songs like Inside the Pocket had I totally loved songs like that and while i love the new CD i miss the older more piano sound

This song is great but it doesnt quite have the emotion that "Walking By" had or "Konstantine" those made me cry sometimes but I dont believe I've heard anyone say they've cried over this song before.

chaos- i like when SoCo uses the piano a lot in their songs. it makes them different and i love that. I guess the guys thought the piano didnt fit in the song so they didnt really use it... but i love the piano. it makes it so beautiful and emotional:)

I thought this song was about his parents fighting or something. It's actually "THIS family's breaking down" - not "his." I can't really make sense of "nothings the same when you give it away, no its not what it seems
it's just what you think it is" though. But when he says "I seem to remember a home that was better" and "now he's turning off, now he's shutting down," I definitely thought it was about parents fighting. Does anyone else see that, or am I alone? :P

i thought it to be a couple fighting. kind of the end of a rope for both of them, the same thing that happens everytime. although i cant decide whether he is in the relationship, or he is watching another couple and relating it to his own experiences and creating more of a story for them based on the situation he is in, making it a back and forth thing. i guess if it's the latter, it would be more like watching the parents fighting.

at any rate, good song. great band.

i was singin this song in the car (haha) and i just kidna thought about it and this song kind of reminds me of teen pregnancy or something i mean if you read the lyrics it kind of makes sense in a way but yea those are my added meanings so yea

and i get to see SoCo at sokol on the 19th! YAY!

its like opening up to someone and telling them your thoughts but they dont understand it exactly like u do or see it at eyelever like you. its what they tihnk it is and the difference is killing him. its not what it seems, its really like this, 'nothings the same when u give it away' they cant feel the same things and emotions as one another. a good song.

I love this song so much SoCo is great at writing songs that can mean diff things to diff ppl. It reminds me of a relationship i have with a member of my family. I LOVE U GUYS!!! Can't wait for WARPED TOUR!!!

:I take it as a person questioning their relationship with a significant other. he's wondering about their relationship, if it's worth it, if she feels the same, if this is what it should be like. it confuses me however because it sounds in the beginning like he's asking the questions but then says i'm writing the answers. so it's almost like both of them are feeling the same about it.

and now he's turning off
and now she's shutting down

:Pretty self explanatory i think. they're blocking out their emotions until they're empty and don't have to deal with the pain and confusion anymore. it's easier to block out the bad than fix it.:

:i think he's talking about giving away his heart. it's not the same if you give your heart away recklessly. it has to be with someone special and thought out. you can't just give your heart to any person who comes along because when the right one comes then you'll have nothing left because you gave it away:

: i think he's thinking he's looking way too deep into all of these questions, searching for answers when he knows that this isn't how it should be and that he needs to leave but doesn't want to, it's just what he thinks it is:

beautiful song. full of emotion like every other soco song. one that's generally overlooked but after listening to all of the others you realize the beauty behind it. andrew is a masterpiece.

i almost think of this song as two people in a relationship and each person is putting on an act for the other to look perfect and normal. but when it all comes down and they are left with the people they truly are they find they don't see each other in the same way. i dont know if this makes any sense but it's almost like 2 people who wanted to fall in love pretended to be people they weren't and when it all boiled down to the people they really were, it was almost like we have nothing in common were not 2 people who shouldve fallen in love. they both kind of just climb back into their selves and are kinda just idle "now he's turning and now she's shutting down" and then it goes into how its not what it seems you know their love wasn't perfect having to be people they were not. i dont know if that makes any sense whatsoever but thats my take on the whole song

I was thinking a bit. This idea is likely wrong, and I think the line "this faminlys breaking down" pretty much kills my idea.

BUT

I think this is about a girl losing her virginity to someone she thought she loved, and loved her. But once he got turned off (when it was done) she got, she realized that their relationship was deteriorating, "nothings the same when you give it away".

This really reminds me of depression as well, "now she's shutting down" this may be the most powerful line in this song.

Great stuff, I loved seeing it live in the last 4 SOCO tours I attended.
