Lyrics for Crash Into Me as interpreted by Demau Senae

Crash Into Me Lyrics
You've got your ball
you've got your chain
tied to me tight tie me up again
who's got their claws
in you my friend
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock
and sweet you roll
Lost for you I'm so lost for you

You come crash into me
And I come into you
I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare boned and crazy for you
When you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

If I've gone overboard
Then I'm begging you
to forgive me
in my haste
When I'm holding you so girl
close to me

Oh and you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
Hike up your skirt a little more
and show the world to me
Hike up your skirt a little more
and show your world to me
In a boys dream.. In a boys dream

Oh I watch you there
through the window
And I stare at you
You wear nothing but you
wear it so well
tied up and twisted
the way I'd like to be
For you, for me, come crash
into me

Bort the Great and others: WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO AND SAY THIS? Like who does that? C'mon. Obviously you are posting stupid things like that to piss off people who actually do like DMB. So go fuck yourself you immature brat. This band kicks ass, and it's a shame you don't like it. But whatever...I'm not here to make you like a band. Point is...please don't come onto a band's songmeaning's site and bash them...all it's going to get you is some replys and thats about it. No one is sitting at home on their computer yelling at you for making lame ass comments like that. The song is posted for people to post what the songs means...not for people to give their every opinion on the band, cuz personally, I could care less if you like DMB or not.
And to Buttplug: get a life, please. Half the time, I don't go to concerts because I can't afford a ticket. I own every albulm, including singles and live shows. I'm inspired by his music, because of the depth of the music..and obviously, you wouldn't know this because your too busy with your head up your ass.
All you people posting stupid things like "Dave sucks" should just stop now. No one is sitting at home on the computer yelling and getting really angry. W'ere just annoyed that you are that immature to go on a band's song meaning's site and criticize their music. I mean, really...get a life. You are not gettin what you want so why don't you quit it already, loser.

*I'm sorry for how long this thing ran, but I was bored, and I kinda went on for a while. But here it is:

Let me preface this by saying that I'm definitely not the biggest Dave Matthews Fan but I do enjoy listening to a couple of his songs from time to time.

This is definitely a song that has a meaning that isn't really exact, you can look into it as shallow or as deep as you want. In this way most lyrics are like classic literature, there are English proffesors who sit around all day and come up with stuff that these books supposedly mean. Whether the author actually intended it to be what these guys make it out to be or not, they still come up with it and force students to learn it, but that's beside the point. There really is no "right" or "wrong" translation of this song, and no ones opinion can really be labeled that way. It could quite possibly be a shallow song about sex, or it could have some deep philosophical meaning. I guess the only person who would know (well, maybe) would be Dave Matthews. He might sit down to write a song with the intention of fooling people into thinking it had some deep philosophical meaning when he's only writing about sex. If your wondering what I personally think about it, I think it's just about sex, of course I think "A Tale of Two Cities" is just a boring story with no hidden meanings. (I mean, come on the guy was just writing a book. He didn't sit there and think about every word he wrote ["hmmm.. water could symboli..."] no.)

If you've come this far and only care about the meaning of the song you can go on, if you care about my opinion on how to be a good dave fan, and people who post stupid anti-band crap in boards like these, keep reading.

Here's a breakdown of what's going on in the rest of this thing. The next paragraph type thing down there is a guide to your being a mature Dave fan and interacting with mature people who aren't Dave fans. The next paragraph addresses people who post really stupid things on message boards and the like.

First off let me preface this section by saying that in the rather small "not Dave-Matthews fans" section of American society, 'Dave' fans can have a pretty bad reputation. There are typically two types of Dave fans and several hybrids in between. Here are some simulated conversations with each.

Type 1:

DF: "Hey have you heard Dave Matthews new CD, is that not the greatest album you have ever heard"

NDF: "I haven't heard it yet, I'm glad you like it, but I'm not really the biggest Da..."

DF: "WHAT THE CRAP?! Are you trying to tell me you don't like Dave Matthews?"

NDF: "Well I..."

DF: "That is so stupid, Dave is the greatest...."

-- Then the conversation goes downhill from there.

Type 2:

DF: "Hey have you heard Dave Matthews new CD, is that a great CD or what?"

NDF: "I haven't heard it yet, I'm glad you like it, but I'm not really the biggest Dave Matthews fan, I'm not big into that style of music"

DF: "Hey that's cool man, I really enjoyed the CD, if you ever just need something to listen to I can let you borrow it sometime."

NDF: "Hey thanks, he really is a talented musician, I do enjoy listening to the occasional song of his, I might have to take you up on that offer some time."

DF: "No problem, any time, see ya later."

Now which one of these was the more pleasant interaction? Amen. Don't be a type 1, please accept the fact people have different tastes in music than you do. From what I can tell most of the people who posted here seem like mature self-respecting people who would lean more toward type 2, I respect and congratulate you all on that.

This brings me to the sometimes unpleasant, other side of the fence. These two types of people are echoed on the other side of the spectrum. There are people who accept other peoples tastes and respect them. Then there are people who find their way onto a Dave Matthews message board thing like this and posts something really stupid. It's the second group that is responsible for most of the tension between major groups. To bring up a good example - democrats and republicans. Both sides have done more than their fair share of name calling. Let's face it, I don't think there has ever been or will be a politician who has fallen into the category of "Moronic" or "Stupid". Any man who has gotten to the position of president is clearly not a stupid person, I think we would be better off if we left name calling back on the third grade playground. No mainstream band actually "sucks", they might come close, but they will always have fans, so they only suck in a select groups eyes. Moving on, it would seem common human decency would prevent someone from randomly taking the time to come onto this board, just for the sole purpose of saying "dave mtthews sks.>!". What a waste of time, most normal people wouldn't take time out of their day to go to a conference room full of people discussing Toyotas and why they like to drive them, poke their head in the door, yell "Toyotas Suck" and leave. That is just really, really.... really dumb. I mean how in the world does that benefit anybody? It doesn't. They just do it to, well, be stupid, and nobody in here remembers it after the next persons post so it's just very pointless and an uncalled for annoyance. So before you do anything like that, stop, think, realize what a loser that would make you, and just walk away.

Well, that turned out to be a little longer than I thought it would be, I apologize about that to the people who had to scroll to get past my ramblings. If you made it this far and think I'm not cool, I'm sorry you feel that way. If you made it this far and enjoyed it, thanks for bearing with me and uh, your welcome, I guess... That's all for me, g'night.

i think its about being so in love and just wanting to take in every element of someone..and about the passon and lust involved..or thats the way i take it..all the interpertations make sense..i think music is intended to give a message..but the message is however the listener takes it in..

For me this song has an EXTREMLY important meaning. I'm not sure how Dave Mathews intended for it to be heard but when I hear it I think of that lost love. This was kind of "our song". He would sing it to me at night before we fell asleep. But he left me for an ex girlfriend. So for me the lyrics are bitter sweet. I have amazing memories of his beautiful lips moving to the lyrics...then the lyrics became true.

"You've got your ball you've got your chain, tied to me tight..."

To me that lyric is both the ball and chain his ex had on him keeping him thinking of her and now he is in my thoughts..my ball and chain that I cant let go of.

"Whos got their claws in you my friend, into your heart I'll beat again"

For me thats me saying that to him...someone has her claws in him...but I'll get back into his heart....instead of her...

"Lost for you, I'm so lost for you" That I indeed am...I'm lost for him..I'm with someone new now...but my ex keeps finding his way back into my heart and thoughts...I'm lost...dont know what to do, where to turn...only he can make it right...

"Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare boned and crazy for you "

To me his lips told truth...I could see the love he had for me and that moment in his eyes....bare boned...I'm not hiding..I'm showing him everything I have...all I feel..all I need...

This song has the power to make me WEEP just thinking about the times its came into my life...I have a tattoo on the inside of my bottom lip that says "CRASH" I adore this song. I most likely will be giving my first child the middle name Crash.

I have a taped radio interview where Dave explains that he once "jokingly said that Crash was about a peeping Tom" but he says it's actually about how he loves to watch his wife move about her life as much as he is happy to be a part of it. I think that is so much sweeter than the peeping tom thing.

I thought this was supposed to be about SONG MEANINGS, but all I see on here is a bunch of people fighting over whether DMB is good or if they "suck dick" (to quote the stunning vocabulary of BORT THE GREAT) Let's stick to the forum here people so when someone wants to look up someone else's interpretation of a song they don't have to weed through all this BS.

okay first of all..if you don't like the band, then why come here and bad-mouth them? personally i think DMB is great and although they have had their time on TRL and all that jazz i don't think that they are a "sell-out"..music is music and everyone has their certain tastes in it..if you don't like something there is no need to say shit about them because most of the people in here actually like them and why would they wanna hear all the shit you have to say? go start a i hate DMB club and bad-mouth them with other people who feel the same way..we all know all you want is a reaction so for all you DMB fans any other people that come in here bull-shitting about our band just ignore them..like annoying insects they will eventually go away..

anyways about the song..
well i think that you people are thinking about it too much..although everyone has their opinions and i'm not saying that one is right or wrong but i think that it is mostly about the love of a man for a woman..and yes it does say "girl" in the song so why would dave put that in there if it was about a man?

"You've got your ball/you've got your chain/tied to me tight tie me up again" - i am so attached to you that i feel like a prisoner of your love

"You come crash into me/And I come into you/I come into you/In a boys dream/In a boys dream" - when you came into my life it was like an explosion..everything got turned upside-down..i fantasize about you like a young boy

"If I've gone overboard/Then I'm begging you/to forgive me/in my haste/When I'm holding you so girl/close to me" - i might act a little crazy around you but please forgive me because it's only because when i'm around you you do that to me and i can't think straight

so that's what i think about it but hey that just my opinion..

hey you know....if the band is SHIT to you...then you have no business being here other than curiosity of the lyrics! do you think i'm going to stop listening to my favorite band because you think it's crap? c'mon get a life and go interpret songs (oh my god..you do that on a songmeanings website?) for songs of YOUR favorite artist(s). not that hard. criticizing other bands just shows your lack in tolerance for other's opinions and tastes in music, and your display of boredom. so get off your fat ass.

Dave Matthews is a good band, but they are over rated. They don't suck, but a lot of their fans are wearing blinders.

This song is about a peeping tom-

Oh I watch you there
through the window
And I stare at you

silhouette, i think your wearing blinders. yes, there is a boy staring at a girl through his window but that does make the song about a peeping tom. its so much more than that. he is in love with her. he gets all of these emotions simply from looking at her. he wants this girl back more than anything. youd stare too if you ever felt that.

Personally, Crash is my favorite Dave Matthews Band album, and this song was the first DMB song I learned to play on the guitar. Not only is the tune itself amazing, but the poetic lyrics create a storylike journey about love, purity, and innocence. Dave Matthews is a genius, and every song on Crash reflects this theme of wonder, dreams, and living. I also think with the release of Everyday, DMB has not lessened themselves into a "lower genre" or "sold out" (whatever that means) - but have experimented further into the world of music, testing new boundaries, and creating an entirely new world of DMB. Quite simply, this song, this band, their work - amazing.

I have always seen this song about a deep attachment "who's got their claws in you my friend Into your heart I'll beat again ... Lost for you I'm so lost for you" It's almost a connection that cannot be explained. Let's not be stupid though ... it's about sex, can't put a good connection like this to waste can we? :-) But even in the sex (and the skirt lifting and peeping tom stuff) there is something more, the two people are becoming apart of one another, creating an even deeper attachment.

Uhh, actually I'm right, it's about a peeping tom.. if you read the rest of the lyric he talks about all this sexual stuff, and watching her and wanting to see her naked.. Hmm, does Dave need to put a picture of her with her eyes burned out and address it to you on his next album cover so you'll see it's about a peeping tom/stalker? Sure it's a love song, but a delusional one..

But yea, Its a good song, just don't be so "DAVE IS GOD" blind that you miss the fact that he's talking about staring at someone naked through a window as part of his "boy's dream.." come on.. no sugarcoating here, it's a sick song.

Anyone who has posted that Dave is their favorite band immediately wears the stamp: "I haven't listened to any music before 1990." None of you guys are into like, Chicago, Beatles.. anything Jazz period.. or you'd see that Dave just is not all that everyone thinks he is. He's not a revolutionist to music, he's not that good at guitar at all, and his voice sounds like somthing dying out of the movie Aliens.
