Lyrics for Crash Into Me as interpreted by Demau Senae

Crash Into Me Lyrics
You've got your ball
you've got your chain
tied to me tight tie me up again
who's got their claws
in you my friend
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock
and sweet you roll
Lost for you I'm so lost for you

You come crash into me
And I come into you
I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare boned and crazy for you
When you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

If I've gone overboard
Then I'm begging you
to forgive me
in my haste
When I'm holding you so girl
close to me

Oh and you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
Hike up your skirt a little more
and show the world to me
Hike up your skirt a little more
and show your world to me
In a boys dream.. In a boys dream

Oh I watch you there
through the window
And I stare at you
You wear nothing but you
wear it so well
tied up and twisted
the way I'd like to be
For you, for me, come crash
into me

Apparently Dave wrote this about a 15-year-old boy's fantasies about a woman.

"Oh I watch you there

You can tell just by this line that he is in fact singing about a teenage boy's fanatasy of a woman behind the glass. I guess we have all felt like this in some way or another.

this is from the cd CRASh which i consider to be daves last stand. this is one of the best cd's ive ever had, but i think its the last great dave CD. he didnt even write alll the songs on everyday and he plays an electric guitar. this song, however, is wonderful. i was wandering if anybody else has heard the version he sand on the cd with tim reynolds. on that ( somewhere towards the end) he uses alternate lyrics that go something like "ill be your dixie chicken if you be my tennessee lamb, and we'll walk together down in dixie land, crash into me" i think that is very cool

i think this is just a song about a teen-age boy dreaming and lusting over this "girl in the window". on another note, i think only dave matthews could turn something perverted like ''hike up your skirt a lil more and show your world to me'', and ''i watch you there through the window vhere i stare, you wear nothing but you wear it so well'' into something poetic.

I see this as a love experienced before, but led astray by a past relationship, and he's begging for that moment again, where their love is undeniable to either person, when they make love, "When you come crash
into me, baby And I come into you". I don't need to draw pictures here to an intelligent crowd. (You're DMB fans, you got SOMETHING going for you... lol) Just my thought...

Damn! Why is it that everyone instantly makes these ridiculous Freudian assumptions? Not everything is just about fucking. PsychoNavigator, you are on the right track. Gena, where the Hell did you get age 15 from? That's not in the song. The words ''hike up your skirt a lil more and show your world to me'' may be about sex, but sex doesn't have to be bad. One day you guys might learn that sex can either be an empty fluid exchange or a beautiful expression of love (not that there aren't many things in between). Look at lines like "You've got your ball, you've got your chain, tied to me tight, tie me up again." It seems pretty clear that he believes he is trying to return to some past relationship. When he says that he is staring through a window he is symbolizing what he feels when he wants something that he cannot have.

I think that this song is wonderful. This man is captivated by this woman. So in love with her that he imagines what it would be like to touch her, hold her close, and be loved by her. I think it is such a romantic song.

well, unlike some foolish unbelievers, I still think DMB is just as good as they were when they put this album out. While this is a great album to listen to begining to end, I have to say "Before These Crowded Streets" is their best album. It flows better, their abilities are better shown, they blend better musically, and it is more musically mature, that is just my opinion though. Don't get me started on the lillywhite sessions either. Just to prove they are still the same band, last year at their show in Dallas they were fined something like $15K for playing an hour longer than they were supposed to! Tell me that isn't the band that wrote Crash, and I will gladly let you know that you were listening to the wrong band to begin with. So get over it fletch7883 and go write another "Handbook for the Sellout"

ramthar, if you got nothing good to say, don't. There's no need to bash a band.

This song is one of my favorite works by Dave Matthews. Listening to this song brings me such bitter joy, that it's almost as if I was rolling on X. The sound is so mellow and laidback. I interpret the meaning of this song as one about a lost love, perhaps as some of you suggested, a love for an older woman that is unattainable. The sadness, however, is opposed by an appreciation of yearning. Although that yearning is not satisfied, the experience itself is beautiful. We often dream and fantasize about things that are unrealistic and irrational. Although some dreams are too out of the question to be realized, we do simply smile upon the contemplation of attaining that dream. For those short half hours of dreaming, we are in a different world without any societal constraints or barriers, and have an experience like no other. Of course, when we do wake, we are saddened by the fact that it was just a dream, and not reality. However, we do acknowledge that dream, and thus further inspire our drive towards realizing it. I believe he's singing about a one-sided love that a guy has for another woman. The woman is not aware of it, but he has fallen in love with her. He can not bring himself to express this to the woman, and instead, sits back, fantasizes, and lets it overwhelm it. >=0) `cn

im just wondering, but who said this song has to be about a girl? just because it mentions the word 'girl' once, doesnt mean that.... cuz if it is about a girl, how does one go about 'crashing into' a guy?? just a thought.... and did no one catch the s and m references??

this song is awesome. personally i can translate it two ways. 1. its about being so in love with someone. 2. its about mistaking lust and infatuation for true love. u decide.

.. in response to gizelle369..

Yes, I did catch what you think are S&M references. "You've got your ball, you've got your chain, tied to me tighter, tie me up again.." .. and ".. tied up and twisted, the way I'd like to be.."

1) The former, as explained earlier, is a (what I also agree with, believe) reference to a previous relationship that he wants to be in again. The latter, I can interpret two ways.. well, three..

One, she's tied up. Probably not. Two, maybe a reference to clothing that she might've donned. Something sexy. Probably not. Three, she's modeling herself in front of a mirror. Maybe.

Or, hell, maybe it's poetic nonsense describing the glow of love? That's what I take "crash into me" as. I don't think someone is literally going to crash into me. Just that explosion of emotion and sensuality and passion.

Crash into me.

Basically, though, I see the song as a broken love that he wants to feel again.

I so want to play this song on my wedding night. The way the music builds up, it's so sexy..

I think that the Dave Matthew's Band is one of the best bands out there. People say that he's talking about a little boy's fantasy; why couldn't it be his fantasy. Has anyone ever consider that? I think he's talking about a girl that he's close to and yet she's so far away because he can't have what he wants; which is her, all of her. Then again, everyone has their own opinions. I'm waiting for him to produce some more great songs for us to listen to. Thank you.

One of my favorite DMB songs. In reading the comments, I have a few of my own. Firstly, I do agree that it's more than adolescent fantasy, because it's deeper than that. You can't just assume it's about a boy's fantasy because of the lyric "In a boy's dream" Secondly, it might not be ALL about sex, but sex is a big part of it, and of Dave's music in general. I read somewhere that he said that "all of his songs are about sex, even the ones that aren't".

Anyway, my interpretation. It's definitely not an admiration from afar... it's to someone he knows extremely well as a person and a lover. What gives the idea that it's about a past relationship? I didn't get that at all. I got it as a song about being IN a love affair, and just being so consumed by it that you never want it to end. "You've got your ball, you've got your chain/ Tied to me tight, tie me up again" is about being totally enthralled by someone, and only wanting to be even more so. I don't get the s and m reference out of it... the ball and chain tied to the person is just inescapable emotion, be it love or lust.

Just my two cents.

Obviously Dave was under the influence of one or more drugs when he wrote this. Read this...

It's crazy, I'm thinking,
Just knowing that the world is round
And here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down?
And is this real, or am I dreaming?

Would you really think of that kind of thing when your sober or do you ponder those thoughts when you are messed up? I think the later.

this is a emotion, not a song. this song is me and my best friend dancing around again like we are 8. this song captures such a strong emotion, no matter what is going on, what the weather is, you just feel it. it takes one hell of a legend (yes Dave is a legend) to do that. That, my friend, is a gift. nothing like getting drunk o a warm summer night under a full moon withall your friend listening to Dave Matthews. Or sitting on the beach in the morning sun just trippin on your thoughts and you peace. Peace man, that is the emotion. Bein high and feelin the love

I am a huge DMB fan. And I agree....ramthar shouldn't bash Dave for the fun of it. Atleast have the balls to explain your bashing. Coward!! I watched the Storytellers show on VH1 a while back with Dave, and he says this song is about a peeping tom. All about love and a boy's fantasies.
