Suicide is painless

Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see that...

Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say...

Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger
Watch it grin...

Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
"Is it to be or not to be?"
And I replied, "Oh why ask me?"

Suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
And you can do the same thing if you please

General Comment:I can only imagine Marilyn Manson covered this because in many religions suicide is a sin.

If you take your own life thats like doing something that ur God is only able to do, so by saying "I can take it or leave it if I please..." is the same as saying God isn't real, I'm in control of my life not some God that doesn't exist.

Considering my growing disbelief in all things religious, I think its a very powerful song.

Thinking of suicide is a painless act as in, you don't care is you die, but the people around who you thought didn't care about are forever jilted by ur selfishness and as such it brings about many changes.

As for M*A*S*H, I never bothered to watch it... But each to their own eh? :)

General Comment:actually, the song is meant to be an allegory about the US during the vietnam war. The guy who wrote it directed it to the US, saying basically that if America withdrew its troops from Vietnam (suicide) it would be a painless defeat (besides the injury to American pride) because most people at the time were lobbying for an end to the war anyway

General Comment:"most poeple who have a brain in their brain as big as Manons' which is functioning on a sufficient level." (wow)
You got it buddy. I'm glad my brain is in my brain and mansons is in my brain and nietzches brain is a brain inside a brain too. Keep up the intellectual thoughts. Regardless how the song originated its message is jacked up. There is nothing happy about suicide...its a selfish way of giving up on life. Life isnt supposed to be easy we have to fight for our peace. Suicide doesnt bring on many changes it brings on one change and thats stepping off into eternity...(which could be worse)

General Comment:So if we dont follow Nietzsches writings we have no brain??? I beg to differ. I am not too familiar with Nietzsche, but I do know that his ideas caused a lot of problems in early 20th century Europe.

I am, however, familiar with 20th century existensialists such as Sartre and Camus. Camus wrote an essay on this subject, it is called "The Myth of Sysyphus". Personal choice is a main emphasis. The first lines of the essay reads: "There is but one truly serious philisophical problem, and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the funamental question of philosophy."

"Through early morning fog I see visions of the things to be"

Great line, but maybe that is my small, insignificant brain speaking....
