Lyrics for Knockin' on Heaven's Door as interpreted by mike

Knockin' on Heaven's Door Lyrics
Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it any more
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Mama put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them any more
That cold black cloud is comin' down
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
"You just better start sniffin' your own
rank subjugation jack `cause it's just you
against your tattered libido, the bank and
the mortician, forever man and it wouldn't
be luck if you could get out of life alive"
Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door

the gnr version of this song is somehow always playing at momentous occasions in my life. i think knocking on heavens door is like looking god, death, life in the eye, and saying fuck it, i will do my thing and fuck the consequences. always teetering on the edge, and proceeding nonetheless. a great way to live.
btw--is "dariofoo" a reference to dario fo, the italian performance artist?

I think it's about a guy who has a lot of problems with drugs and stuff. Now he's just giving up on life because he's tired of living.

I don't care what it's about, it's better than Bob Dylans version. GN'R does some great cover tunes.

This isn't about drugs. Its the exact same lyrics as Bob Dylan's classic song which talked about a death of a soldier.

The lyrics are the same as Bob Dylan's version (Minus the phone thing), that song had nothing to do with drugs.

im afraid u are wrong, Yourallwrong:: The people who think iall these songs are about drugs most likley are not drug users, because a drug user knows what they are all about and that knockin on heavens door and many other songs people post drug comments to are not in any way about drugs, sorry for that run on sentance, and also dont judge a book by its cover many drug users are dumb and many are smart, many non drug users are dumb and many are smart, it takes quite a bit of drugs to make a person talk nonsense like u suggested above

this is the best version of this song. Its been covered about a million times but G 'N' R does the best version. All this drug bullshit is so stupid. just becuz guns n roses did drugs, you immediately assume that it has to be about drugs? Thats total bull. Aerosmith did drugs and theyve written some pretty cool shit non realated to drugs since then.

lol so because bob dylan was a christian none of his songs were about drugs, some of his songs WERE about drugs: get a clue people. But this song I don't think so, he often had double meanings in his writing however.

It sounds like a police officer (badge, gun, etc), or a soldier of some form. Gorgeous song, and in my opinion, has nothing to do with drugs.

Matthew 7:7
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Revelation 3:20
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Luke 13

24He said to them, "Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, 'Sir, open the door for us.'
"But he will answer, 'I don't know you or where you come from.'
26"Then you will say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.'

The dylan version of this song was about the death of a soldier, and i assume gnr interpreted it as such when they decided to cover. Still, the gnr version seems to also convey a sense of evaluating your life and wondering if you've really living it the way you want to.

this song sounds like a short epic, like a guy's about to do something that he knows is probably gonna kill him, like a battle or some sort and he's basically saying to his loved ones that he's not coming back.
