Taking over, we're taking over
Throw the weight up off your shoulders now
That we can show our love

It's almost over, it's almost over
No more war and no more soldiers
To stand against his love

Away with all the troubles that you've made
Away with waiting for another day
Away

Look ma, the sun is shining on me
Impatient in love and aching to be
Could you believe in heaven
If heaven was all you had?

We're taking over, we're taking over
Throw away your four-leafed clovers
And stand beside this love

Away with everything you've grown to hate
Away with everything that holds you safe
Away

And every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
Every light light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
Every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
I'm never alone

Look ma, the sun is shining on me
Taking my time to do as I please
Could you believe in heaven
If heaven was all you had?

The sun is beaming, radiating
All the love we are creating
We are creating

And every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
Every light light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
Every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
Every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me
I'm never alone

My Interpretation:This song has to me always felt like a 'Thank you and goodnight' from the Pumpkins. The lyrics, vocals and melody all evoke emotions of achievement, pride and relief.

Machina (where this song comes from) was the last album before their split in 2000, and contains some of their strongest work, but there is a very lonely and weary feeling to the whole album. By this time the Pumpkins had been together for over 10 years, by all accounts they were feeling the strain of the rock and roll lifestyle and had a reputation for making each other miserable. Subsequently they broke up within about 6 months of Machina's release.

It seems as though after everything they've been through, and all they've achieved and all they've lost along the way they can finally all move on and start a new chapter in their lives.

Throughout the song there's Lyrics like:
"Throw the weight up off your shoulders"
"It's almost over, almost over, no more war and no more soldiers"
"Away with all the troubles that you've made"
"Away with everything you've grown to hate"
"Away with everything that holds you safe"

That really makes me feel this song is about bringing their journey to a close.

General Comment:I belive this song in fact it's about finaly, after a long period of time, losing his fear to fall in love again.

    Taking over, we're taking over
Throw the weight up off your shoulders now
That we can show our love

It's almost over, it's almost over
No more war and no more soldiers
    To stand against his love

He tells that his internal conflict it's over, maybe it's time to show his love again

Away with all the troubles that you've made
Away with waiting for another day
    Away

No more excuses, no more postponing, you're falling in love again, and it's now.

The rest of the song is realy about being happy that he doesn't have to be bitter and shut himself off to everyone anymore, and it's liberating.

General Comment:This is my second favorite song by the pumpkins. Not because its the instrumentaly amazing, not because its lyrically glorious, Just because of what it means to me. How it makes me feel. Who and what it reminds me of.

"Look ma, the sun is shining on me"

Everything is alright, and everything just feels great.
This is an amazing song :D

General Comment:I think it's about triumph. Well, after struggle. Like all triumph takes that struggle, and you've finally succeeded. and from those struggles you learn a lot, and they also make succeeding really wonderful.

    And every light I've found
Is every light that's shining down on me

everything i've worked for is now "shining down on" me

    wonderful wondeful song

General Comment:I think this is his "Holy Shit, we've made it" song. Every light I believe is a reference to either all the lighters held a loft during a typical Pumpkins show, or the "stars" that choose his company now that he's a successful musician. I've heard in the past that Billy felt that his mother was the only one in the family who believed in his talent.
So the line"Look, Ma, the stars are shining on me" is a reference to that: Wow, mom..you were right after all. Great song.
