November Rain is GnR's Stairway To Heaven. It's that softer side that shines through and, quite frankly, I think this is their best song, closely followed by Sweet Child O' Mine. This song involves two people who love eachother ridiculously much, but they struggle to make it work as they get too involved with eachother that they sort of neglect themselves, and thus need some time alone in order to gracefully continue their love for eachother.

Or some shit like that. Whatever.

Anyway, Slash is, along with Dimebag Darrell, the best guitarist ever. And his solo in this song just proves it. If only Axl was more considerate and rational, who knows how much further GnR could've gone? Luckily Slash, the band member who deserves the most credit, is still performing with Velvet Revolver. Vive La Slash!

this song is one of the best written songs ever, and unbelievably well put together. Amazing!

i think this song is about axl not being over a relationship. he doesnt understand why they arent working and he knows she is feeling the same. he can see her love is restrained. they both known hearts can change and that may be the reason for there part but throughout the song he knows his hasnt and thats not true in this situation. i think november rain is a metaphor for the tought times in a relationship, and the hard time after. i think candle represents his relationship with the woman and it being hard to stay "lit" if you will during a tough time. i think the woman is trying to get away and axl knows shes lying to herself and shes just afraid, he says if you love me dont refrain or else he will keep being down or depressed, walking through november rain. at the end again he believes her fear will come to an end and they will be together...

i think i interpret it this way because i am going through a similar situation. and i have the same optimism, that the relationship will work in the end

sounds like hes with this girl and he realizes that their relationship isnt what it used to be. then he says that they may not be in love anymore and that its hard keep your relationship going under that kind of a thing, hence the november rain line. he also says that theyve been trying to make it work for a long time and that they might as well move on.

he then says that theres always someone else and that its ok for them to move on and hes content with what
their relationship was.

the whole "do you need some time on your own" thing is asking if she needs to spend some time away from the pressures of the whole relationship.

after the solo, he then says that once everythings all done with, that maybe they could fall in love once again if they both try hard enough. he says that nothing lasts forever, even cold november rain, which means that eventually all their problems will go away and they can be happy together once again.

i think its a song about giving love a chance. heres what i always imagine when the song comes on

Like theres a guy lets say, who loves this girl. but she's just a friend and he doesn't want to push her into saying she loves him, or to say so himself first. so the first part goes like that. 'darling when i hold you, i can feel your love refrain, but darling when i hold you dont u know that i feel the same'...there you go.

so this girls been hurt, and is feeling low..so he tells her nothing lasts forever ['even cold november rain', which to me is symbolic cos its bleak and cold, like her life right now].

'lovers come and lovers go' ..theyve been friends a long time. theyve seen each other thru hookups and breakups. 'if we cud take the time to lay it on the line i cud rest my head just knowing you're mine, all mine'..he really loves her. and he wants desperately to be with her, but doesnt want to freak her out at the same time...he says if we could just give it a shot, 'lay it on the line', then he could rest easy knowing she was finally his.

'do you need sometime on your own'..do you need some time by yourself to think things over? do you need time to put urself back together? get over ur last guy?

she's been hurt a lot and she's unsure of tryign a relationship. maybe she's afraid that if they breakup she'll lose him forever. but he says just give us a shot. and even if we have a fight/breakup, 'i know tht you'll still love me whens theres no one left to blame'...we'll never lose each other forever. we'll always have this love, whether we're a couple or just friends.

and he says everybody needs somebody..you cant shut urself away form love forever. and you're not the only one...im alone too...i need someone too...we might as well be together instead of being alone together.

just how i see it. i think it fits^_^ one of my fave songs ever!

This song based on a short story(cant remeber the dudes name)but its about the main characters wife dies and he remebers the wedding and her funeral
thats why its called november rain(metafor to explain how the world is so cruel)

And we both know hearts can change'. it's about believing in love. even when life is all shitty and you don't want relationship problems on your mind, your loved one will let you on your own. because everybody needs some time on their own. the important thing is that when shitty period is over, you should go back and try to find your love. 'cause he/she will wait..

This song is without a doubt, one of my favourite songs of all time. The way it builds, the emotions it makes me feel, the breakdown and, come on, the video sees Slash in front of a small church in the middle of a desert, playing one of the best solos ever on his battered old Gibson LP - and he isn't even plugged in! Love it! And it is now the official song of Cops and Robbers - a particularly sweet organisation who specialise in the production of Segmented Armour and dehydration of the masses (sorry, in joke). Even Axl is still cool in November Rain.

Probably my all time favorite song and definitely one of the best songs ever made. Everything from the piano to the lyrics to slash's bridges and solo at the end are pure genious!

Relationships end. Period. And when they do it just sucks, especially if that person meant more to you than anything in the world. But you have to keep moving along because eventually even the pain will start to subside.

This song expresses the sadness of knowing a relationship is going to end, the devestation of the breakup, the coming to terms with the situation and the realization that the pain will eventually fade and life will go on.

Great song, great song. As much as I love rock, I can't get over all of the instrumentals thrown in. I did do Band/Orchestra which I think heightens the ability to hear contrasting sounds. Guitar + Flute? Who's ever thought of that? Well it worked out for the best in the end, no?

The song is about the difficulty in keeping a relationship going... the mistrust that grows over time when both people think the other person is taking them for granted. The frustration that you feel when you love someone, but you're afraid that they are going to leave you, and that makes you want to leave them first. but you're just not sure, and you're hoping that the frustration will go away.

And then, all these mixed feelings make your partner accuse you of being distant, which you find incredibly frustrating, because you think they're already acting very distant.
