    My Interpretation:My father always told me it was about suicide... The first verse and the first chorus being sung from the point of view of the boyfriend of a cutter, telling her not to cry and everything would be alright, the second verse and chorus being him saying goodbye at her funeral, and the last verse-chorus being her comforting him from heaven... just how ive grown into the song...

    General Comment:The video and the story behind the lyric is a love triange. Axl and Izzy loved the same girl. The video is from another girls perspective, who would forgive anything to be with him. And axl would give anything to be with the blond girl, thinking about her till the day he dies
    The lyrics are free for personal interpretation.
    It could be the girl who is saying that there's something in your eyes (love) and that she already know his feeling towards have grown. That he doesn't need to hide it, she is completely honest with him. Either she doesn't love him enough or she is in a relationship. In a way she loves him, so she tries not to hurt him.
    His perspective. He understands that their fling was just short term. Her feelings have changed and either she is going to stay with her old boyfriend or just going away. He knows what she is thinking and tries to comfort her, that he is not really hurting. But if she would just give him a sign, he would be there for her.

    General Comment:I <3 GN'R and this song. The solo is SO beautiful, some of the best work from Slash I reckon, although I say that a lot :L

    And to put everyone right. I'm pretty sure I read this song was about Izzy's girlfriend who Axl started to like. She said she was moving away and he started to cry. She said "Don't Cry" and he wrote the song in 5 minutes with Izzy.
    For the Alt version after they recorded this versions video he said roll it again. Because he just thought of the 2nd versions lyrics, so they made that one right after.

    Song Meaning:I think this song was written for Axl's ex wife; Erin Everly.

    Erin told the press stories on how Axl used to beat her, and how it was hell.

    That's what the song is about, telling her not to cry.
