Lyrics for Sweet Child O' Mine as interpreted by mike

Sweet Child O' Mine Lyrics
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where evrything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

"The girl might be an imaginative projection of his innocence (maybe even childhood), a suggestive image of something he had lost forever, summoned from the depths of his memory."

I agree with this comment from Lester on the first page. I know it was about Erin but Lester's interpretation was very good and thats the way I see this brilliant song. My most favourite song ever ever ever! :)

Great song! It's a goddamn classic!
Gotta love that riff Slash came up with, and Axl's lyrics are great, too.
Shame that fucker destroyed such a legendary band.

Just look at the title: Sweet CHILD O' Mine. It's not about a woman, but a child Axl abducted and loved...intimitely. "Where do we go now" is talking about when the cops discover where he is, the next question is "Where do we go now, little child? Where do we go now?" Dirty perv.

I dunno, but I know Slash's solo is an exercise in beautifully interlaced major/minor ambiguity.

The track is about Erin Everly. They were married for a month then divorced, after which Erin filed a law suit against Axl claiming he sexually and physically abused her. I don't believe the lying scheming bitch, she settled for a lot of money outside court which to me proves she was only after the money and publicity.
But yeah, the track was a poem written by Axl for her. And Izzy actually wrote the riff, Slash thought it was fucking funny, and started mocking him with extra little notes put in, and Axl told Slash to play it again, and put it into the song. Slash hated the track, and was sick to death of it, which is why before his solo in the video he kicks something in front of him, and that was the take they used. So there ya go.

This song needs to be covered by someone better that Sheryl suck-ass Crowe. This GNR song is so damn dated now, some artist needs to update it.

The words seem to fail, compared to the raw emotion by the guitar solo, thats the bit that hits me the hardest anyway.

Even though Slash disliked the song he grew to appreciate it after he played it on stage. The origon of the song is different from the meaning. The words were actually a poem that Axl wrote for Erin Everly.

I think the whole being in love with someone younger than you line of interpretation is one possibility. I do however prefer the idea that this girl is just lively and makes him feel young at heart again.

I just wanted to add that the opening riff to this song is one of the best three note riffs you're likely to ever here. I really like Slash's guitar work in this song. One of my friends who generally hates guitar solos agrees with me that slash's solo fits perfectly within the frame of Sweet Child and doesn't seem contrived or artificial. The little bass solo at the start is cool too.

However in terms of lyrics I think there are far superior love songs out there Into My Arms by Nick Cave is the one that comes immediatly to mind. However Sweet Child O' Mine will always hold a sentimental place for me.

I don't think Axl has a daughter, he definitely didn't have one when this song was written.
