Lyrics for Sweet Child O' Mine as interpreted by mike

Sweet Child O' Mine Lyrics
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where evrything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

I read somewhere that Axl wrote this poem for Erin and then Slash made fun of it with his super-happy riff... hahaha

Lets be honest. It is not a song, it is an anthem. Brilliant. Lets not demean it by calling it a song. Slash is great. First we have dave murray then we have god and then we have slash.

I don't think the song should be about a girlfriend, but ok, if that's the fact xD To me it's always sounded like it was a father singing to a daughter.

Might be a cliche, but I have to say it - this song rocks!

Frankly, that's the only way to say it. They're really nice lyrics (but I don't quite get the ending), and the guitar kicks ass.

i think its a double meaning, either daughter or metaphorical youth in the woman he loves

ULlilLady, it's definitely not about his daughter. did he even have one at this time? it's about erin everly, whom axl was dating. axl has confirmed this.

i was born in 1988, around the time when the song came out. my father used to sing me this song when i was young, and it's still vivid in my memory. this song is as an immortal song, for every kind of love. anyone you love. and this song to me stands for how much my dad loves me. this song has this miraculous healing quality to it. whenever i'm hurt, this song soothes everything.

my dad always use ot change the lyrics to "darkest skies" instead of "bluest skies". me and my mom both have dark brown eyes, that could be the reason.

how about this? axl wanted to be as good as kurt cobain, but he couldn't, so he threatened to beat him up, but didn't, and kurt became over all way way way more popular than axl....... wait..... that actually happened didn't it!!!

I read the GNR biography and the song was said to be about his ex wife Erin Everly. They ahd a troubled relationship and axl said that the reason they sometimes got along is because the children inside them got along, but in truth they wanted two totally different things. That would be why he refers to her as something that is from his childhood. And yes, she did suffer an abortion and that was the time that i believe he had a nervous breakdown or something or other that made him go to the hospital.

The part that goes "where do we go now?, where do we go now" that reminds me of this one time my friend and I were having trouble we hit rock bottom and it's like where do we go now? what do we do. you know? it's like what now.

just for the record this song has many meanings

#1. and most obvious, it could be about a child that someone loves very dearly

#2. it could also be a love song, someone whom somebody else cares for like a child in the way that they want to protect them and stay with them forever

well i guess its only 2
