She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where evrything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine

General Comment:This song shows a softer side of Guns N Roses. At the time that the song came out, they were well-known for excesses. Its the quintessential power ballad in every sense of the word. As a hopeless romantic, I would sing this song to any woman that I date. This song may have come out when I was just a 7 year old, but its stood the test of time.

General Comment:It's a love song Axl wrote about his then girlfriend Erin Everly. They had a crazy relationship to say the least.

Memory:This song was sent to me in one of our first pieces of communication after 22 years by a guy that I was briefly crazy about.
    He was 15 and I was 16.
He told me that this song brings back the most amazing memories of our short time together ( about 3 months during the summer of 1987 )
We are still hugely attracted to each other but will not act on it due to being in committed relationships with different people.

General Comment:i think its about like being in love to the point of where you can feel fresh and new and young so it makes you happy but the love is not returned so you also feel empty
it's a weird feeling, fulfillment on one hand and emptiness on the other... i think this song portrays it perfectly

Memory:I'm in high school, and after my boyfriend of three years and i got back together after a crucial break up (like every teenage couple), he dedicated this song to me at a school dance and sang it. It's so true since he's graduated and I'm still in highschool now. I'm still a child in his eyes and will always be. He always says I can make him feel like he's a rebellious 13 yr old again when I'm 16. I believe that this song is also about being young and childish emotionally and spiritually. I still act like a child basically because I'm the youngest in my family. And most of that is a mental factor. My mom has the mind of a 20 yr old and she's in her fifties. Age doesn't matter. This is a note to the new generation out there... Please don't grow up too fast. Try to be a kid for as long as you can. Ive had a hard life so I know... Wait to have sex (because really it's not what it's all cracked up to be, unless your a frisky teenager and that's just something they all think about at one time), and yess jobs are required in life but just don't rush life. Be a kid for as long as possible. Because once your done with school, it's not a summer break anymore. It's life, and it can be a really scary thing at first.

General Comment:I think the whole song is about a woman he is with that makes him feel as happy as he did when he was a child.

Throughout the song he makes allusions to sacred childhood hiding places. "Where do we go now?" is a rhetorical question, asking "Where do I hide now?" It's impossible to get away like he could as a child because of the responsibilities and hardships that come with being an adult, not to mention his heightened awareness of all the world's problems.

In addition, you could say that this is his way of admitting that, for all of the joy and innocence he finds in the relationship, he knows it could never last.
