Axl wrote these lyrics while he was in New York City. The words came to him when he was walking through Harlem. Some black guy came up to him and said "Welcome To The Jungle...You're gonna die". Go to youtube and watch the video "A night in the jungle" and Axl will say it himself.

Well, first off, when Axl moved from Indianna to LA "an old balck guy" yelled "Welcome to the Jungle Baby! You're Gonna Die!"

And the song was based off a time he was in Seattle with the band and he noted how much more small a rural Seattle was to Los Angeles. Kill or be Killed is the mentality in this song, basically what every rock star (besides Metallica and currently Areosmith) comes to know... Drugs, Alchohal, Sex, Money, Fame

this song is about tempted by the wild hollywood life during the 80's. one side is that you'll have fun and be famous and another side is that you'll destroyed you life. axle doesn't really pick a side here, but his main purspose is just to give you thought. there is a saying that it's really about the truth to a idea but the thought it invokes. because the truth tend to change, because the idea have change.
