Lyrics for Fallen as interpreted by flashflatliner

Fallen Lyrics
Yeah, I've been to Jupiter
And I've fallen through the air
I used to live out on the moon
But now I'm back here down on earth

Why are you here?
Are you listening?
Can you hear what I am saying?
I am not here, I'm not listening
I'm in my head and I'm spinning

Is this who you are?
Some sweet violent urge
A weak fallen man
With the promise of an end?

All the pretty people died
Innocence is out of style
All the whores have gone away
Now there's nothing left for me

Why are you here, are you listening?
Can you hear what I am saying?
I am not here, I'm not listening
I'm in my head and I'm spinning

Is this who you are?
Some sweet violent urge
A weak fallen man
With the promise of an end?

Is this who you are?
Some sweet violent urge
A weak fallen man
With the promise of an end?

this song means to me that: human nature is to be wrong-doing and pleasure-seeking "Innocence is out of style" "Is This who you are?.......A weak fallen man"

Why do they thank Maynard now? Though I can always see the resemblance.

Anyway. Best song on the album. Fucking. Awesome. Love that line "innocence is out of style", especially as Jared always looks so damn cute.

I agree with maxgreen. It could be an inner conflict.

"Why are you here, are you listening? Can you hear what I am saying? I am not here, I'm not listening... I'm in my head and I'm spinning." Sounds like he's talking to himself in a sense. As if he has someone else inside him. When he repeats it, it's like he's frustrated or something with whoever he's talking to and then the voice that replies(which could be in his head) is calm. And "Is this who you are? Some sweet violent urge. A weak fallen man with the promise of an end?" is almost like he's reprimanding himself or something. But that's just what I think. I have an idea on the second verse though. But oh well. I could be wrong. I've never tried to interpret a song before. All in all, it's a great song. My personal favorite is The Fantasy.

Here's what I think this song means...

Yeah, I've been to Jupiter
And I've fallen through the air
I used to live out on the moon
But now I'm back here down on earth
[Maybe this person (let's call it "he") was "out of it" for a while. Depressed, confused, or living under a rock for a while because he just didn't care about the bad place the world is. He decides that it's time to show himself and come back to reality. This also adds to the theme of 30stm itself...]

Why are you here?
Are you listening?
Can you hear what I am saying?
I am not here, I'm not listening
I'm in my head and I'm spinning
[He remembers what people have said to him before. Why are you under that rock? Why are you so depressed? Are you paying attention to anything happening? Can you hear me asking you this? He answers in his head that he is NOT listening (which is a bit sarcastic since he's answering the question) and that he is absorbed by his own mind. He's confused about everything and he doesn't know if he wants to care or not. This is what is described by the spinning.]

Is this who you are?
Some sweet violent urge
A weak fallen man
With the promise of an end?
[He's asking himself who he is (which also adds to the theme of 30stm). Is he a soul trapped in this dark abyss where he always has the urge to break out, but he can't? Is he weak, does he have a purpose in life? Is his life about to end soon? What is the purpose?]

All the pretty people died
Innocence is out of style
All the whores have gone away
Now there's nothing left for me
[He decides to get over himself and explore this world he left a long time ago. The world is just as bad, if not worse, as it was when he left it. It's not "cool" to be innocent. All the people that were beautiful inside have died and become cruel people. All the "whores" have gone away from the innocent place he used to call home and moved onto bigger, badder things. There's nothing left for him anymore because all of the things he remembered of earth were gone from his home. It was now filled with cruel, different things that he didn't understand.]

I'm not really sure this is correct, but I always thought of this song as being about a confused, lost soul that left the earth for a while then came back to find that earth was no better than where he came from. It could also possibly be talking about growing up and how people become less innocent as they become older...

Got a feeling its about being angry with the world and all the lies and shit. Hence the space journey in the first verse. Makes it ironic.
Second verse all about how the anger affects him and his thoughts. Either talking to himself or shouting at someone esle. Most probaley the liar, which could even be himself.
I think the writer is trying to point out the man inthe song is very easliy tempted by sexual urges. But is not pride of this so call him self 'weak' and 'fallen'.
definatey get a strong sense of anger
love this band though

The title, "Fallen" instantly reminds me of the book of Genesis in the Bible, and the chorus seems to refer to the Garden of Eden. After Adam and Eve committed the first sin, God cursed mankind and death was God's promise of punishment. So the singer seems to be asking "why are you here?" and "who are you?," and "innocence is out of style" (sin is in style now). In his cynical view of Christianity, he describes humans as nothing more than a violent urge that is sweet (sin is fun) who have an end (death) because of God's promise (curse).

While the choruses may just be alliterations to the Bible, the big picture seems to just be asking the HUGE life question of WHY? He's trying to make sense of reality.

I disagree with xx.AAymEEiPwn.xx. All 30stm songs have meaning :P

Yeah, I've been to Jupiter

But now I'm back here down on earth

Could this refer to Letos acting career? Mabey he feels he is now "back on earth" after becoming famous ect.
