Washed ashore.....Washed ashore....

I'd like to live beneath the dirt
A tiny space to move and breathe is all that I would ever need
I wanna live beneath the dirt
Where I'd be free from push and shove like all those swarming up above
Beneath their heals I'll spend my time....

Shout your name into the wind......
I'll wiggle in the earth and dew
Shout your name into the wind.......
And sometimes I will think of you
Shout your name into the wind.....
And if you ever think of me kneel down and kiss the earth and show me what this thought is worth
I'll never hear your voice again

Shot your name into the wind.....
(Repeat)

General Comment:i think this song is two part intermixed meanings. I think in the beginning it means trying to get away from this chaotic society by falling into solitude and by that you lose touch with the ones closest to you. This brings in the second part which explains that the speaker wants his loss to think of him and show homage to him just as he would for them.

    General Comment:Beautiful song.

Definitely the truth and meaning of death. Seeing it as simply as the next phase of the life cycle, and that while others may miss you, they are confused and don't understand why exactly they will "never hear your voice again".

When I think of those I've lost, I listen to this song and it makes it easier...not easier in a sense that I don't miss them terribly, but a sense that everything will be ok and that I should be greatful for the opportunity I was given to share part of life with those people.

"kneel down and kiss the earth and show me what this thought is worth"

General Comment:In my humble opinion this song is about the state of being we all achieve after death. I feel like (and I could be wrong) that the song implies that song's author wants to die/commit suicide and prevail in the state of life that will come.
I believe that shout your name into the wind is a reference to how all life at its core is connected. Whether or not he did it he has come to the realization. In some ways this may seem like he went through with the act.

General Comment:Alot of people suggest depression or isolation i see this song as a metaphor for addiction and the people you leave behind in the frenzy of the state your very well alive but as good as dead beneath the "dirt" street slang for heroine. beautiful song easy to relate to from unfortunate perspectives.

General Comment:A sentiment I sympathize with whole heartedly. I spent most of my childhood in my room which was in the basement. It's comfurtable in there. Not about isolation! It's not about going somewehre, instead the song is about living somewhere. There's a taoist parable about a government who was trying to persuade a tortis to come live in the palace upon an alter. "You'll be worshiped and covered in precious stones", said the man. The tortis replied "Do you think I would be happier upon an alter in a palace, or here dragging my tail in the mud?" "Here dragging your tail in the mud" "Than leave me to drag my tail in the mud!".

General Comment:The song starts with "washed up ashore".

I think that sets the tone. Depression could be an underlying cause, but ultimately the singer is burned out. They've lost their spark and they are fed up with the hustle bustle of the world.

Living beneath the dirt simply a fantasy of getting away from whatever enslaves him. There is one person he would regret leaving, could be a girl.

General Comment:This song is not about death it is about how important is he to his girl. He wants the world to stop ...live beneath the dirt... and would she even remember him if he were gone today. and would she care enough to her that when he was thinking of him would she neel down and kiss the dirt, what he has become. It is true it is about if he became part of the dirt by dying but that is not what the song is about.

General Comment:Sometimes i just get sick of the world, and everyone in it, and just want to be alone. Like where no one can reach me.

its just about getting away from all the crazy mixed up shit that goes on every day, and taking some time to just chill.
