You and me used to be like brothers
On the nights we got drunk to eack other
You know me, I used to have some wit
It ended up in a shit -flled sandpit
We come from across the border
We drink the six mile water
This mongrel needs a new home
This mongrel needs a new home

That time when things got better
We'd take trips across the wire
Like the night we took mad acid
Swore we saw the city hall on fire
We come from across the border
We drink the six mile water
This mongrel needs a new home
This mongrel needs a new home

I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
But i'm not ready for home

Bukowski day, i'm gonna miss it
We'd get together eack month for a day
All the memories I have are
Decked out in presbyterian Gray
We came from across the border
We drank the six mile water
This mongrel needs a new home
This mongrel needs a new home

I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
But i'm not ready for home

Now, me and you don't talk of one another
It never really started out that way
I always meant to write you a letter
I always meant to call you some day
We came from across the water
We drank the six mile water
This mongrel needs a new home
This mongrel needs a new home

I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
But i'm not ready for home

I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry
I'm sorry

General Comment:- also. The line "we drank the six mile water" is proper beezer.

I mean, it really shows how fucked up they got themselves. I wouldn't drink the Six Mile Water if you paid me. Granted it's not quite the Lagan, if they drank the Lagan waters they'd be dead and this gem of a song wouldn't exist. The Six mile is still pretty mingin though.

General Comment:For the record, Six Mile Water is a RIVER in good old 'Norn Iron' (Northern Ireland) which runs near the hometown of the band.

I dunno if the song is about Fyfe. I've never really heard that they stopped talking when he left. It is evident that its about a friend who shared alot of fun and crazy times the the subjective, and they parted wats when things got just a little two crazy. The subjective lost touch because they were too busy being off their face to ring them up.
    I can relate to that.

General Comment:It's about Fyfe Ewing (their original drummer). He left after the band got quite big, and this s basically an apology for some of the crazy shit that went down when he was in the band. Six Mile Water is a lake in Northern Ireland.
