one of my most favorite ramones songs of all time. it's kind of sad because it represents some of the downsides the band had to endure from touring.

The "Danny" mentioned in the song is Daniel Fields, the Ramones' manager on the End of the Century record. The whole song is about trying to keep a relationship going while on tour.

I like the contradictions in the song:

"But we can't go surfin' 'cause it's 20 below"

i.e. the cold weather sucks

"It ain't Christmas if there ain't no snow"

i.e. I love a white Christmas

It occurred to me (right after I hit "submit, of course!) that the contradiction is a perfect representation of the politically opposite views of Johnny & Joey.

The snow could also be about cocaine of course.
Christmas a metaphor for a fun time in general, like it's no fun without coke.
