Lyrics for Do You Remember Rock'n'roll Radio? as interpreted by black_cow_of_death

Do You Remember Rock'n'roll Radio? Lyrics
Do you remember Hullabaloo,
Upbeat, Shindig and Ed Sullivan too?
Do you remember rock'n'roll radio?
Do you remember rock'n'roll radio?

Do you remember Murray the K,
Alan Freed, and high energy?
It's the end, the end of the 70's
It's the end, the end of the century

Do you remember lying in bed
With your covers pulled up over your head?
Radio playin' so one can see
We need change, we need it fast
Before rock's just part of the past
'Cause lately it all sounds the same to me

Oh-oh
Will you remember Jerry Lee, John Lennon, T. Rex and Ol' Moulty?
It's the end, the end of the 70's
It's the end, the end of the century

this song is aboot how we took the 70's and all the fun time in that decade for granted and this song is a remembrance of how we should have appreciatted those years more even tho everyone was stoned or fucking or doing something stupid during those years. a decade of wasted youth and social rebellion with the rise in the porn industry and the majority ofsex drugs and rock and roll.

this song isn`t about how we took the 70's for granted, it's about how rock was dying out to disco by 1979, which is when this song was released. they are talking about famous bands that were the roots of rock and hoping they will be remembered. this song is great, definitly one of the best pop songs around.

It means "Do you remember when music was good, and kicked ass?"

Another song I've really connected to in this past few years with this onslaught of bad bubblegum pop and wannabe punk bands.

This song simply asks is you remember when music was fun, energetic, upbeat, made you feel good. This song should be remade, or put out as a single by Kiss. Music of today is so depressingingly slow, plodding, moody, and a lot of it sounds the same...f**kin Creed, Pearl Jam, Audioslave...Depressing crap.

A lot of people define 'great' bands as the ones whose songs stay relevant. On that basis, the Ramones would be one of the greatest ever for writing a song that's more relevant now than it was at the time.

This ... is so fuckin' true. I mean, I can't tell one modern "punk" band from another! (come to think of it ... there are only about two modern bands that don't sound like everyone else: The White Stripes and Ash). You're right people, I couldn't say it better myself, music today mostly sucks the big hairy monkey one ... if only people had listened the first time 'round and stopped with the disco and the indie and the prentious, high-minded lyrics and the transformation of the rockstar into the boy-next-door at a mic/with a guitar/behind the drums.
Ah well. We've still got the classics.

This song is about loving your kids even when they make you really mad and you just want to beat them up, but you perservere and in the end you're like, "I'm kind of glad my kids are still alive... kind of."

This song kicks ass, same with the KISS tribute.

the song was really relevant to the Ramones cuz when they emerged music was dominated by shitty disco. I find this song still relevant cuz i think most mainstream music is ass

probably my favorite Ramones song, even though the sax riff was pretty much completely antithetical to punk rock. this shoulda been a massive radio hit....

Great song, but I definitely prefer the live version to the LP. Phil Spector overproduced this (and the whole album) so damn much... It kills me not to be able to hear Dee Dee's bass on this song.

I agree about how Spector over-produced it. If it makes you feel any better though, he's rotting in jail right now...

Thoughts on this: what a great job Dee Dee did in funny videos, from being caught with the radio under the sheets in this to the chemistry scene in "Rock n' Roll High School." How spooky is it, since Spector's investigation has been in the news, to remember Johnny saying, 30 years ago, "what are you going to do, Phil, shoot me?" Yes, it was heavily produced but also remember it was their attempt to get some respect and airplay (therefore sales) from the radio business.
