twisted on destiny
fate and three wishes
we fuck and we fight
someone else does the dishes
and meantime my memory
reminisces and twists

there was a time when we were
filled with laughter
haplessly hoping
happy ever after
did we string up a heart
let it swing from the rafters and bleed

there's blood on your legs
i love you
[3x]

evoke the rich tapestry
of love and devotion
emote the sweet saccharine
of all that devotion
forget all about that
and fall in this ocean with me
with me

twist, snap
i love you
[3x]

there's blood on your legs
i love you
[3x]

i love you [4x]

My Interpretation:It's quite literal; you don't need to look for metaphors here. It's written in the voice of a man who has just killed the love of his life after she ended the relationship. "There's blood on your legs, I love you" - blood from a stab wound maybe? "Twist, snap - I love you" - that's her neck broken, and it's all over for her. "Fall in this ocean with me" suggests he intends to do himself in after he's ended her life.
Very, very dark. And possibly completely wrong, but that's how I hear it anyway.

My Interpretation:Marriage, Sex, Love, Losing your virginity, Possibly drugs references and everything in between.

The chorus is so horrifically, in a good way, about literally losing your virginity. Some of the rawest lyrics Ive ever heard.

'devotion' through everything ('falling in the ocean') could be a marriage/relationship

possibly a past marriage/relationship, thats now broken, hense the 'there was a time', but implication to me is its not like that now

    beautiful song nonetheless

General Comment:Anyone heard the record of the John Peel Session? It's somehow different... The second stanza goes like this:

    that blonde blue eyed boy
your leech (--- or?) your lover
(just ?) one of these days
he'll be one or the other
    (---) one of these things
    you didn't discover about
    me

Can't find the lyrics, can a native English speaker in possesion of the song help me out with the gaps?

General Comment:It could be interpreted in so many ways, that line - certainly the breaking of a hymen could be one. Or rape or other violence within the relationship. It might just be a period reference. (heh)

    This verse intrigues me:

    evoke the rich tapestry
    of love and devotion
    emote the sweet saccharine
    of all that devotion
    forget all about that
and fall in this ocean with me
    with me

    twist, snap
    i love you

It just makes me think of chemical dependance. Like perhaps he's hooked on drugs and he's pulling her in to be like him, then the blood on her legs is a symbol of this somehow?

    I sound crazy now, heh

General Comment:Its the chorus that does it for me "there's blood on your legs.. I love you" also "twist, snap.. I love you" it's just so raw. Bit of an erie song, sung oh so elegantly.

General Comment:Dysfunctional marriage? Bit extreme.. either up or down but no inbetween.. 'we fuck and we fight, someone else does the dishes' Or maybe it's just a really cynical outlook on marriage, like how at first everything seems so great because the couple are too blissfully naive & idealistic to realise nothing lasts for ever. *shrugs* I dunno. Good song anyway. Love the bleeding heart part.
