Well it's 1969 OK all across the USA
It's another year for me and you
Another year with nothing to do
Last year I was twenty one I didn't have a lot of fun
And now I'm gonna be twenty two I say oh my and a boo-hoo
It's 1969 OK all across the USA
It's another year for me and you
Another year with nothing to do
Another year with nothing to do
It's 1969
1969 1969 1969 1969 baby
And it's 1969 bayyybee
Baby
Baby
Baby

General Comment:sorry to go all in-depth revisionist history on you but...i doubt its iggy saying that 'music was shit and boring' or that punk wasnt around or whatever, given their place in the detroit scene with the MC5, the up etc. plus you can't talk about 'all the hippy shit' in this context when you think about the white panther party & all the other militant 'yippie' groups linked to the music scene. the punk music/culture evolved from the angrier elements of the hippie counter culture, it didnt just spring from nowhere.

    aaaaanyways. fucking excellent song.

General Comment:I think the "nothing to do" is because it was all the hippy shit at the time and punk hadn't been invented. So they had nothing to do in that society.

General Comment:it also has a lot to do with the fact that music during the time was shit and boring, except the doors of course.
it talks about the fact that people were stuck in small dead-end towns with nothing to aim for, where as iggy, ron asheton and the rest of the stooges were havin a great time gettin high and having sex with hot groupies.
this was the birth of the REAL rebels, mainly jim morisson and iggy pop.

wow, i always thought he said "war across the USA". "

    Hahahaha. Me too.
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the end of a shit generation.
    Plus it's hating growing old.

General Comment:I dont quite understand, there was a lot to be fighting for wasn't there? Vietnam for instance. Its still a great song. PiKeulo it couldnt be a song for generation unless the song was fundamentally changed as it focusses on 1969.
