Very cool. I don't know of any other groups who wrote a post Vietnam song. Sure there was tons of stuff protesting it while it was happening but the Minutemen do the whole crusade justice here by following through. There's no need to talk about the meaning of this tune when it's all so evident. This really is just 1 of the tunes that make Double Nickels on the Dime one of the best albums ever created. I bought it when it was first released and am still entertained by it and never tired of it.

i find the minutemen so underrated/unknown in the UK. brilliant song.

"not one domino shall fall" - obviously refers to the domino theory of communism.

LawdyMama: The only other band I know of that did something similar is The Dead Milkmen with their song "Beach Party Vietnam."

When he talks about the numbers in the first verse, 50,000 is an approximation of the number of American troops who died in Vietnam and 500,000 was an approximation of the total number of American troops who were sent there. That means about 10% of the US soldiers died.

It's a pretty straightforward Vietnam protest song made after the war was over. Just one of several of the band's anti-war songs.
