I've been out walking
I don't do that much talking these days
These days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
And all the times I had the chance to

And I had a lover
I don't think I'd risk another these days
These days
Now if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
It's just that I've been losing so long

Well I'll keep on moving, moving on
Things are bound to be improving
These days
One of these days

These days I'll sit on cornerstones
And count the time in quarter tones to 10
My friend
Don't confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them

Lyric Correction:Actually title correction not lyric correction - the title should acknowledge that it's a Jackson Browne cover.

General Comment:for me, it's about a depressed person, who doesn't now what to do now and thinks about the past often and regrets the mistakes and choices he made and doesn't want people to talk about them.

General Comment:It seems like a person who has settled but feels wistful for the life they had, which was more adventurous but more exciting:
Don't confront me with my failures... how could I forget them when they are what I think about when I evaluate my life so far. My failures are who I am.

    Pretentious? Yeah...

General Comment:Lingeron and Itali are on the mark. It's about a person who's reached a point in their lives where they are depressed about all of the choices they made in the past, and this makes them not uninterested and uninvolved with the present and future.

General Comment:This has been one my favorite Nico songs since I first started listening to her epic voice croon some years ago. She was truly one of a kind. To me this song is about giving up and feeling as though you have failed so much in life...how could you bare to go on and interact with others..it's about the fear of pain that she had become so familiar with.

General Comment:It seems like this is just someone analyzing what their life has become, how they've tried to forget the past, and overall, how they've changed. It kind of has the feeling of being in a rut, and wondering if you're going to be like this forever, or if you'll change again ("seeing another highway").

General Comment:It's about reaching a point in your life where you feel regret over the choices you have made and all the things you haven't yet done or are now unable to do. I don't know about the royal tenenbaums i knew about nico from the velvet underground and nico album and then heard chelsea girl which i recommend

General Comment:Most of you are wrong, Jackson Browne wrote this alone when he was sixteen, and released it on his first album, before he and Nico had collaborated. If you listen closely to the lyrics, it's an introspective poem about a kid who's life doesn't seem to be going the right way.

"These days I tend to think a lot about the things that i forgot to do... and all the times I had the chance to."
