Well I hold the rope
And I hold the sail
And I kept my papers
To keep from land in jail
And I fought piranhas
And I fought the cold
There was no one with me
I was all alone, yeah

Well it's Easter morning now
And there's no one around
So I unroll the sermon
And walk into the town
There was no one with me
I was all alone
And I fought piranhas
And I fought the cold, yeah

Well you know what it's like
I don't got to tell you
Who puts up a fight
Walking out of hell now
When you fought piranhas
And you fought the cold
There's nobody with you
Yes, you're all alone, yeah

so.. this is my very first comment thing.. i was just running and listening to this on my mp3 player and it hit me..
    look at the 'chorus'
"and i fought piranhas and i fought the cold there was noone with me i was all alone" if we break that apart and take each one indiviually look what happens.. the first 'verse' is like Him (Jesus) fighting piranhas (or avoiding getting killed before He was supposed to.. people did want to kill Him.. like pharisees and such religious leaders.. He kept His 'papers' or His scripture.. you know the things the prophets said about Him.. so that He could die how he was supposed to.. aand He sailed around with a bunch of fishermen.. in a bunch of storms physically emotionally and spiritually.. He fought some sort of piranha like enemy..)

    2.. lol

"and i fought the cold" i can only imagine how cold it would be in a tomb after youve been dead for 3 days.. its a little self explanitory after you catch on to the idea.. then #3 of course.. "theres noone with you and youre all alone" He died for all of our sins so we dont have to go to hell.. He did it.. we werent with Him.. He was alone..

aand just because jack wrote in Easter and piranhas and papers and cement etc doesnt necessarily mean all those things.. he does have a bit of writers freedom i guess is what you can call it.. Easter gives you a clue as to what he is talking about.. i mean who here wouldve picked up on the spiritual part without it.. honestly.. and piranhas doesnt have to be a fish.. it can be a metaphor.. and papers is pretty close to like scrolls or scripture.. oh and cement can be construed as the huge piece of rock or the boulder that had been placed in front of Jesus' tomb..

buut these are just my thoughts that came to me as i was running a minute ago.. and this is just my first comment so.. yeah..

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
