    Song Comparison:if u listen 2 reflection bef it ends u hear triad's guitar & drumin slowly picking up volume,this is heard at the beginning of triad itself 2!just like lost keys & Rosetta stoned,these songs fit:reflection==>Triad

    General Comment:Tool are very spiritual and Triad could also be related to trinity or 3. Balance of mind, body and soul which equalls completion. Opposite energies balanced which end up with wholeness being the third element. The points of triangles are all connected balancing each other out.

    That's how I interpret it anyways.

    It's an intrumental song and it's suppose to be personal to us as well as Tool. Doesn't mean we will have the same meaning and they know that. It's how we feel when we listen to it which projects what's inside us.

    General Comment:Although Triad is an instrumental song, it still well closes off the trilogy of Disposition and Reflection well. The way I see it, Disposition is the beginning of the mind or the soul (the childhood, you could say, also shown in Lateralus "in my infancy"), where you have no experience with the world, you go entirely off of what you're told. Therefore, how you see the world (the "weather", or your "disposition") changes depending on what you're told, or what is "mention[ed] [..] to [you]". Reflection, then is the maturing of the soul. The adulthood, if you will, where you (possibly) realise that you don't need all of the things you think you do, and that selfishness and narcissism will do you little, but that instead you need to remove your ego (also known as your "self" per Carl Jung, whom Tool seems to have much interest in) to see the unified consciousness of man. This song feels like the explosion of reality that comes when you see this. All of a sudden, everything opens up to you, everything seems new again, you see all the things you were missing, and it all explodes with the energy of the song.

    General Comment:The thing I love most about Tool is that their songs are incredibly rich with metaphors, and that some lines of their songs aren't meant to be taken literally, and others are, so you're never quite sure when you should take them literally and when you shouldn't, so for me it's fun trying to figure out their songs; it's like a puzzle or something.

    General Comment:if this influenced by Carl Jung (i suspect it is) then this would be an instrumental representation of the ego, shadow, and anima (or animus) in a person. tool got me reading carl jung.

    General Comment:At first I agreed with your interpretation of the name, "Triad", that it's called that because there are three of the members (a triad) playing it. A few minutes later I realized that it's actually not. Maynard plays a second bass (a headless steinberger!), that adds it back to four. And they commonly bring in extra drummers from other sets to do a battle with danny or something. That's five :)

    My Interpretation:wanna hear something really cool?
    take the second part of ticks&leeches (or: leeches) just before it picks up from the quiet part, and fit it into the silence in triad... it's a perfect fit, the beats even line up.

    General Comment:Just thought of this (sorry if someone's already put this).

    Triad = 3, a trinity. In Christianity, the concept of God is represented as three parts: The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. God as an entity is represented in these three ways. In the context of Lateralus, perhaps the idea is that through undergoing the philosophies of Reflection, we are able to transcend our humanity and become God. This is furthered by the artwork of the album, where the final layer contains the word God within the human. Also, the song is followed by Faaip De Oiad, latin for Voice of God, signifying the completeness of the process. This is all just theory of course - I feel in a bit of a philosophical mood. Any thoughts?
