    Yep. The first verse refers to the characters Marshal Matt Dillon and Kitty Russell of the show Gunsmoke.
    
    Also, the chorus references Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, both American country performers from waaaaay back in the day.

  General Comment:This was the theme song for my life several years ago when I lived in California. Originally from the northeast, I moved out there and lived damn near this lifestyle. Changed me forever and have a new found respect for the country and ranchers. I then made the biggest mistake of my life. Taking a job in NYC.

  General Comment:wow thats crazy.. maybe possible. well this is like one of toby's or the first hit. AHH i love this song. it is absolutely awsome. im surprised this one got less comments than the taliban song, which well wasnt even on the radio here id ont know about hte other states but yeah, great song.
  
  actually i dont know why toby would regret not joining the dallas cowboys when hes now famous. but actually this was one of his first songs and i saw on CMT one day and it looked like he had a rpetty hard time with his music starting off so maybe.

  General Comment:wow what a great song!!! i grew up in a small town, and my grandpa was a cattle farmer. he per say lived the life of a cowboy. i never worked for him or took interest. when i hear this song i think of how i wish i could've took after him and been a cowboy. toby has a great voice. this tune is SOLID.
