I think that in order for one to come to grips with this song you would've had to lived something like that fictionalized character did. He's a bastard. Alone and helpless

Um, yeah, those are the lyrics to Alive, not Alone. Alone was never officially released but is one of their best songs...

I think the song referrs to Eddie never knowing his real father. He says "I'm still alive" to let his father know that hes still alive possibly.. but im pretty sure that it might have something to do with his real father

Neither of those lyrics are right. The first is Alive, the second, although titled Alone, is from a different band, (Creed maybe, sounds like them.)

i have a track here thats a jam session with alice in chains where vedder and his crew from pearl jam are doing this song...

it is one of the most amazing songs from vedder i have ever heard..

like rolling sermons off the hill

OK lets get it all straight. the lyrics at the top are Alive. bengal tigers lyrics are not pearl jams song alone. The correct lyrics were crackerman's the other 2 are completely different songs. i suggest you all (xept crackerman) purchase LOST DOGS by pearl jam and listen to ALONE and read through bengal tigers lyrics and then say its the right song

these are not the real lyrics to alone. this is not even pearl jam. and its not pearl jam and alice in chains. and its not creed and tool.

it is a shitty band that was around for a week called "Downface"

I looked this song up cos i was curious. What a terrible song. The guitar is very simple, the voices are like false cats singing together. The song i found was said to be by Alice in Chains AND PJ but its definately not! I wonder how this misconception came about because it seems to be widespread. Someone should delete this song from the PJ list, its an insult ;)

I assume CCDevlin is refering to the song Bengal Tiger posted lyrics for, which justinp3971 says is by Downface. It's certainly no Pearl Jam. Crackerman's lyrics are slightly different from the Lost Dogs version, which runs so:

Pearl Jam to date has released two versions of "Alone". The first was released on the "Go" single which was released in Australia. The second version was released on Lost Dogs. This is why there is a difference in the lyrics put up by crackerman and Lakini. It looks like crackerman's is the version from the "Go" single. Whereas Lakini is going off of the Lost Dogs version. I would make one change to crackerman's lyrics. I think its actually:

"Own experiences lead to a young girl. All-alone you will meet the one who lies in wait."

this is a great song. Alone is musically a great rocksong and the singing is great

the lyrics posted by Bengel Tiger are from the band downface which is a weak copy of pearl jam sound.
