Homely, thick in mind, never listen
Worn, tired siren drawn tunnel vision
Don't forget this chance only live once
Sprung, hypnotized by light, had to get some

Get it all
She said I forgive you
Don't regret our time
You've got to move on love

Angel eyes
Four years and still I dream
Agonize
Such beauty not since seen

Bow down, piper leading, you were one
Hungry, took the prize, then you got dumb
Don't live out your life like a sad song
Sprung, hypnotized by light, had to get some

Get it all
She said I forgive you
You must do or die
You've got to let me go

Angel eyes
Your face is all I see
Agonize
Forever haunting me.

My Interpretation:I think its about the home town girl that got to him, they both felt for each other at one time but he left it to late and all he can think about when it comes down to love is when he looked into her eyes and seen something special like he's never seen before. But then again it could be about anal rape!

General Comment:Personally, I don't really thinkk the reason for the break up is imprtant. To me, the point seems to be that Jerry did in fact break up with someone he really loved and now is tortured with regret.

    General Comment:(Copied from the reply)

The thing about Jerry Cantrell, and any member of Alice in Chains for that matter, is, they believed their music is about anything YOU believe it to be.
From the beginning when they were doing small shows on the Kirkland waterfront, to the days at the Showbox, and still even today (with the exception of Layne, RIP); Layne and Jerry always said that their music is whatever YOU believe it means. It might mean something to Jerry one day, and something completely different the next.

So what ever YOU want it to mean, is what it means.

General Comment:Sorry shadow, didn't mean to attach that to your comment.

Also, you can definitely tell that Layne is still with Jerry. In all of his music I definitely still "feel" Layne.

General Comment:Could not let this pass even though songs allow us to take our own meanings, it's about his mom Gloria who died of cancer - well documented in album reviews and bios - she was pallative at home, they lived with jerry's grandmother......

General Comment:This is, by far, the best song I've ever heard. I felt EXACTLY this way about a girl. Except for the "4 years and still I dream. More like 4 months, lol). Everything else is true. I fkd up and we're through. But now, I'm annoyed by her. lol. Yup, can't stand the b**ch.

General Comment:you have no idea how much this song speaks to me right now. I've known this one gorgeous girl for about 4 years now ("4 years and still i dream") and i haven't ever made a move on her (mostly cause my self-esteem tells me that she's too good for me), but we ended up kissing at a party a few days ago, and now i feel like i might be falling for this girl.
the lyrics "your face is all i see" is very remniscent of that night, as well as "forever haunting me" as it is right now, heheh.
