Sucker love is heaven sent
You pucker up our passion's spent
My hearts a tart your body's rent
My body's broken yours is bent

Carve your name into my arm
Instead of stressed I lie here charmed
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you

Sucker love a box I choose
No other box I choose to use
Another love I would abuse
No circumstances could excuse

In the shape of things to come
Too much poison come undone
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you
Every me and every you
Every me

Sucker love is known to swing
Prone to cling and waste these things
Pucker up for heavens sake
There's never been so much at stake

I serve my head up on a plate
It's only comfort, calling late
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you
Every me and every you
Every me,

Every me and every you
Every me

Like the naked leads the blind
I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind
Sucker love I always find
Someone to bruise and leave behind

All alone in space and time
There's nothing here but what here's mine
Something borrowed, something blue
Every me and every you
Every me and every you
Every me

Every me and every you
Every me [Repeats]

General Comment:This song is DEFINITELY about Doctor Who. Take it from the perspective of someone who does nothing with her life but obsess over Doctor Who and music. The first verse is kind of vague and general but it can still be interpreted as being about the show, seeing as "heaven sent" can refer to how the Doctor is always able to save people like he's a miracle from heaven, as one example. "You pucker up, our passion's spent." Well, the one time he fell in love with a companion they couldn't be together and whenever a companion falls in love with him it never really works out for them, either. "My hearts a tart, your body's rent. My body's broken, yours is bent." I'm not sure if it was just a typo that there's no apostrophe in the word hearts but if that's not a typo, well, being a Time Lord, the Doctor has 2 hearts. As far as "my body's broken, yours is bent," that is probably a reference to how people get injured and killed by aliens a lot in the show, the Doctor often being one of them and sometimes having to regenerate. "Instead of stressed, I lie here charmed" sounds like a reference to how the Doctor sort of turns characters into soldiers in a way by accident, and as Rory once told him, he makes people a danger to themselves because when they should be trying to protect themselves they want to impress him. "Sucker love, a box I choose. No other box I choose to use." Come on. There is nothing that this sounds like it could be about more than the TARDIS. "Another love I would abuse No circumstances could excuse" sounds like it's about how he always needs to choose a new companion and he kind of feels like it's inexcusable most of the time because of the danger that puts them in. The next part that starts out with "In the shape of things to come..." sounds to me like it's about River Song, his wife. "In the shape of things to come" could be referring to the fact that both are time travelers and always know the future, but I think it's more likely that it's about River and the Doctor having personal timelines that are going in opposite directions and are all mixed up. "Too much poison come undone." Well, that's obvious. When they first met, she poisoned him. He died but she brought him back by giving up all her regenerations. And as for "every me and every you," that is probably a reference to the fact that they're both Time Lords, and Time Lords are a species that can regenerate. That means they can get a whole new body. As far as we know there have been 3 incarnations of River and 11 of the Doctor. "Prone to cling and waste these things" probably refers to how his companions usually end up committing so much to being on the TARDIS with him that they kind of waste and give up their normal lives. "Pucker up for heaven's sake there's never been so much at stake" sound like it refers at first maybe to Rose, because the Doctor lost her when she was trapped in a parallel universe but also because the second time they said goodbye, when he needed to find out what to do with the human version of himself that Donna accidentally created, the human version wanted to spend his life with Rose and she needed to choose the same to help him become less angry and give him a home. She responded by kissing him. "I serve my head up on a plate" well, the Doctor is always willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone. As far as the whole comfort calling late thing, well, much as I hate to say it, he's lost so much and he kind of hates himself and sometimes he talks like he's suicidal or doesn't want to live anymore. "Like the naked leads the blind. I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind. Sucker love I always find, Someone to bruise and leave behind." This whole thing seems to again be referring to how he always makes people really want to come with him because of his vast knowledge of the universe and his offer to see it all but he really only does this because he needs someone to look up to him and love him the way he can't really love himself anymore after what happened with Gallifrey. He feels selfish and considers himself a bad person and his companions are often very hurt by what happens and are left behind when he has no choice. "All alone in space and time. There's nothing here but what here's here's mine. Something borrowed, something blue." Ok well the part about being all alone in space and time is obviously because he really is all alone in space and time. He's very lonely. 'Something borrowed, something blue.' well, it IS from an old rhyme, but that rhyme was used directly in an episode. It again refers to the TARDIS.

General Comment:I interpret the lyrics of that sung by a 'Gold digger' . "sucker love is heaven sent" - meaning it's meaningless love for means of personal materialistic gain. "
"my hearts a tart, your body's rent" - she cares not for him, and his body is the vessel to obtain gifts for free off of him ( through acts of sex ).

"Sucker love, a box I choose.
No other box I choose to use.
    Another love I would abuse,
No circumstances could excuse." links to their relationship being merely a personal gain, where abuse through love is 'fair game'

Sucker love is known to swing.
Prone to cling and waste these things.
    Pucker up for heavens sake.
There's never been so much at stake. - this refers to the feelings of annoyance felt by the gold digger, saying she is annoyed by the fact he is clingy when she doesn't actually love him. "pucker up for heavens sake" meaning that he should just shut-up and kiss her as that's what he wants, and he is wasting his time trying to woo her.

"Like the naked leads the blind.
    I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind.
    Sucker love I always find,
Someone to bruise and leave behind." - this is saying that she is totally in control of the relationship, and has him on a silver platter; toying with his emotions.

"All alone in space and time.
There's nothing here but what here's here's mine.
Something borrowed, something blue." - lastly, this is saying that love being omnipresent, it is almost "space-like" . she then refers to the wedding as nothing of any emotional value, saying "there's nothing here" . "something borrowed..." refers to once again, only materialistic goods, she sees the wedding as just a practical event, no emotional connections involved.

this is just my viewpoint of an amazing song :)

General Comment:I agree with pragmaticpoetry in their interpretations of the lyrics that they chose, but not in the conclusion to be pulled from it.

I think this song is about how destructive relationships are romanticized in our society. For example Twilight, by Stephenie Meyers encourages all the factors of an abusive relationship, intimidation, force, posessiveness... "Sucker love I always find, Someone to bruise and leave behind" could be interpreted as the normality with which people hurt their partners, as if it were an inevitable part of a relationship.

Our society encourages relationships formed purely to drive away loneliness and feel like somebody cares, rather than out of love for that specific person.
Every you and every me mocks this concept, for example "pucker up for heaven's sake, there's never been so much at stake" questions the importance of looks in partner selection, as if it were the most important thing in the world, which is what the media claims. I've picked apart a clearasil, axe and another advert for teeth whitening procedures (cannot remember the brand) and the message really relates to that song lyric.
"if you don't get rid of those pimples you'll never get the girls"
"this deodorant is like a magnet for girls"
"your wedding can only be perfect if your smile is white enough"

On the topic of weddings, "something borrowed, something blue", rather than a cute comment on being together forever is the mockery of all these traditions that are followed in the ceremony to prove to your partner that in 3 years you'll still care for them.

It's a beautiful song, in its own way.

General Comment:I think its about being in a dysfunctional relationship, many people get used to domestic violence, it become a common thread in each relationship. A friend who had many violent partners once told me 'if he doesn't hit me it feels like he doesn't care' her words not mine.

Just feels like thats what the song is about

General Comment:This song suits my current situation, though I never interpreted the song this way before and I am aware that this isn't the real meaning of the song. I'm having a love affair that is genuinely hopeless, and how I feel and what I want to say completely match the song.

-The first stanza is discussing the love between me and my girlfriend. I'm cold to her and we both have extremely skewed body issues that make us insecure physically and abusive towards ourselves.
-The second stanza refers again to my self abuse issues and my guilt. I take anger out on myself through self injury occasionally when I have a nervous break down. Right now the situation is stressing me out.
-I understand that I have other choices, and that my relationship is this box. Outside of this box is my lover who is being torn apart as well. I have no excuses, regardless of how often I make them, for what I've done to both parties.
-I have a lot of changes about to be set in motion in my life. Graduation from college and the loss of everyone who means anything to me and all of the stress of after and finding a job, etc. The only person who will still be here and with me without me having to change anything is my girlfriend. There's nothing else to do but be with her in 'sucker love.'
    - I fell in love again with my ex, clinging regardless of how futile it is. I still need this fleeting love again, because everything is falling around me and this is the one thing that is real. I understand that I could run away with him, and leave everything behind, but there's too much to lose for either of us. He has to move and I have to stay.
    - I let my girlfriend know that I was out until 3 A.M, or later. I always call her or message her when I get home, regardless of what time. I don't try to hide things anymore. I leave myself at her mercy.
    - She should see everything, because I've been rendered bare by what I've done, but she doesn't. I'm selfish and unkind in all that I do, my affair just being the pinnacle of selfishness. I am purposely unkind to my girlfriend. I want her to hate me, but I don't want her to know. Anyone that has ever fallen in love with me has been damaged by me.
-Finally, there is no one I can open up to about everything that is wrong. Everyone is friends with each other, I have no one to help me with my situation. Everything in my head stays with me. Something borrowed, something blue reminds me of both of my lovers, both promising me forever. The ex I am borrowing, my girlfriend and I are both depressed and cause each other to be 'blue.'

Any time the song says 'Every me' on it's own I think about how two-faced I am. All of the 'me's that everyone sees that never quite cover the picture.

General Comment:Did anyone ever think this song was about multiple dimensions

"all alone in space AND time"

according to Einstein space equals time

and the "every me" and "every you"

could be a reference to the same people in MULTIPLE DIMENSIONS of SPACETIME

    JUST A THOUGHT :)

Lyric Correction:I'm surprised that nobody caught the Doctor Who reference within the lyrics.

    "Sucker lover box I choose,"
"No other box I choose to use," and
"Something borrowed, something blue" all refer to the TARDIS.

"All alone in space and time
There's nothing here and what here's mine" refers to The Doctor being a Time Lord and having nothing other than occasional companions. What he does have for himself is the TARDIS, which he "borrowed" from a factory and without the TARDIS there would be no real purpose to his existence.

My Opinion:I know I'm not the only person who has thought of this.

Is anyone pulling a Doctor Who motif out of this?
I doubt that is what Brian intended to do (then again, maybe he would) but every down to "The Box I choose" "Sucker love I always find, Someone to bruise and leave behind" and "All alone in space and time
There's nothing here but what here's here's mine" seems to line up.

I know it's silly, but it made me giggle.
