Lyrics for Big Long Now as interpreted by epsilon

Big Long Now Lyrics
It's not cold enough
Please put this side up
She is moving through
Can we show our faces now?
I'm not interesting
She's not turning green
Shameful as it seems
Can we show our faces now?

Endless climb
I am blind
Why can't I leave?
Color blind
Speaking a phrase
Instantly grown
I am blind
Waiting in line

Why am I sure?

this is a great song, I dunno what americans find appealing when they are high, but I find this song really snaring in any mental mood... I dun have a clue what he means with this, maybe it's mataphors for something Kurt only knows of, or mebbe he went creative when he was high, but I like it, endlessly climbing towards something and not realizing it's useless...

hey anni, its on incesticide btw. This was one of kurts favourite songs, he played it all the time live. I think its about his ex- Tobi Veil.

I don't think the lyrics to the chorus are right. But what do I know. Anyway I think this song is about heroin. Really the only reason I think this is because of the first line "it's not cold enough". Because heroin alters your metabolism so drastically junkies tend to like the room temperature to be a lot colder than normal people would find comfortable. Read "Naked Lunch" by William S. Burroughs, it explains more about this. Also Burroughs was one of Kurt's heros. I think they did a song together.

"Endless climb, I am blind"
He is reaching for something he can't possibly get and feels useless because of it; "can we show our faces now?"

this song could be about kurt's inferiority complex;

the first four lines could be about seeing the person you're trying to impress, and her ignoring you, or jsut not noicing you, as she walks past [or 'moves through'] so you hide 'please put this side up' and get all embarrassed, and wait for her to go 'can we show our faces now?'

the line 'i'm not intreresting, she's not turning green,' the turning green bit could mean 'she's not getting jealous', or 'she's not impressed', and it seems shameful because he's opening himself up to get close to her, and she's not having any of it, and so he is embarrased or ashamed.

We all know that Kurt liked Tobi Vail from Bikini Kill, but for some reason she only liked him as a friend, and he could have exaggerated tis theme to encompass teenage inferiority in general.

As usual, i'm only suggesting this. i don't want to say it's definately about that in case someone thinks im wrong and decides to start a big slagging match about whos mother performs the most acts of fellatio

Here are the right lyrics (as i hear it anyway and i love this song)

It's not cold enough
Please put this side up
She is moving through
Can we show our faces now?

I'm not interesting
She's not turning green
Shameful as it seems
Can we show our faces now?

In this climb
I am blind
Why can't I hear?
Color blind
Speaking a phrase
Instantly grown
I am blind
Waiting in line | Why am I sure?

its a great song, and while i dont think it's about aliens (mainly because the emotional atmosphere is way too intense and grounded in his own dispair) im not sure what its about. Could be about the hard climb to superstar-dom or about religion and its impossible expectations. Either way, sonically, it is a mindfuck of a song.
