"Look at the red red changes in the sky" signifies the red skies during the day getting more red from hattred, war anddeath.
"Look at the separation in the border line" how the government are communists and separate the people and not let them speak their minds.
"But don't look at everything here inside" others in the outside world cannot see what is really happening behind closed doors.
"And be afraid, afraid to speak your mind" the citizens are unable to speak their minds/rebel against the government and due to the consequences.
"It took a moment before I lost myself in here" saying that it took time for one to realize what was really happening in their surroundings.
"It took a moment and I could not be found?" they tried to look within themselves and see what is right.
"Again and again and again and again I see your face in everything" their hate builds and builds and they cannot see anything but the faces of the government.
"It took a moment the moment it could not be found?" their hate is so great that they would kill them right there and then but none of them are there.
"What's with the fascination with the Echelon" they are constantly thinking of building an army or a group of protesters.
"What's with the constant questions that you have this time" they constantly question the government’s orders and laws.
"What's with this circumstantial consequence" why must there be such a harsh consequence from rebelling against the ways of the government and what has ever happened to free speech.
"Find oversight before this night will ever rise again" an unintentional mistake that they must take back or their lives may be taken and they will never see the night rise again.
"It's all you've got inside your head, better get up and leave instead" instead of fighting and risking their lives they should pack up and leave, stopping thinking of change because one person cannot change a whole government.
In conclusion i think this song is about the people raging against the government and rebelling against the power.

I think this is the most influential song on the album because it relates to the meaning behind the name of 30 seconds to mars. There's also a bit of symbolism that's seen here too. This song is basically about a battle, which is never-ending. Also Mars is the god of war in ancient mythology.

such as your gf or bf getting upset because you went out with your friends, or because you were hanging out with a member of the opposite sex...
oh, and echelon doesn't mean wholy formation of ranks of an army, or army terms... it can also mean a ranking system... such as the man bieng the breadwinner, thus he is the top dog of the household, or vice versa... such as the president is the top echelon, and the newborns today are the base echelon... such as you go into a hotel, and ask for a floor on the 6th echelon... they'll most likely give you a hotel on the 6th floor... just make sure it's a nice hotel when you do it ;)
I think it pretty much boils down to a girl talking to her boyfriend\husband about bieng herself again, because she doesn't like who she's become because of him... but she still loves him and wants to be with him...

Echelon Is/was a goverment project that supposedly ran through IM programs, E-mail, ect, to catch terrorists.
and the more I read and listen with that in mind, the more plausible it seems. Just think about it. especually...

- the governments of countries were not supose to use the network and technology to spy on themselves, however theyd just get info through other countries (IE--> usa tells UK to watch usa, and usa will watch UK for them)

(The changes a relationship goes through. Could also be a foretelling of the loss of the relationship on the near horizon. Red? The battles yet to come in the relationship and it's ultimate death. Symbol of blood)

(The couple has drawn their respective sides)
But don't look at everything here inside
(Don't forget why we started this relationship in the first place. Don't focus on the damage already done but why we started in the first place)

(Just give up on trying to fix what is broken between us)

(Chorus is pretty obvious really. The last lyrics being the most important because he realizes that at some junction in the past a critical moment was reached that afterward the relationship could not be saved. And he couldn't find the moment in time)

What's with the fascination with the Echelon
What's with the constant questions that you have this time
(The Echelon in this case could be that an Echelon is used as an attack formation, kind of a flanking technique. He could be asking why she is constantly trying to keep tabs on him 24/7 and watching every move he makes.)
(The second line coincides with the first. The questions she continues to ask him about what he may be doing, what he's doing, who he's with, etc. Kind of a nagging and persistence that is annoying him and that he is telling her not to worry.)

This album far exceeds ABL in quality and depth, and it's so disheartening to see that they are thriving only on their new work that is so easily surpassed by their prior.
Perhaps I'm bitter that one of my little gems was exposed to the disgusting mass market.
