It starts with one thing
I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, but you didn't even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me
Will eventually be a memory of a time when

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing, I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try,
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme,
To remind myself of a time when
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me in the end
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There's only one thing you should know

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

My Interpretation:this can be someone who feels like he is being controled by someone else. Be it a woman, a man, a father or a mother or whoever. keeping all the angst inside. trying to keep the lid on because he thought it would all assemble into something. But In the end, none of the things he kept inside meant anything. all those years of being a good son/daughter/ boy/girl friend would just tantamount into being left, either by death or some other cause.

the lesson? every man acts for himself. noone is another person's property. so LAY OFF

Song Meaning:This song is about a person, who fell in love with a girl. Blinded by her beauty, he didn't recognize that she isn't interested in him. Even when she treated him in a bad way or just ignored him, he tried everything to achieve the contrary. But in the end he realized, he wasted so much time for nothing and regrets that.

So the songs meaning is that, if you see you are treated in a bad way by a girl, don't waste your time, even if you think she is only one for you or you will regret.

My Interpretation:for me i think this song is from a persons point of view when someone has pilt up with their girlfriend or wifeor maybe they've died, as at the middle to the end of the first verse it sounds as if the person's saying how time goes so fast and the lyrics 'the clock ticks life away' meaning how young their partner, like young as in 20 or 30, has died or as she aged things got worse between them, he then continues this with the lyrics 'watch the time go right out the window' meaning they didn't have much time together or it didn't feel that way, then saying 'i wasted it all just to watch you go' meaning how the time they spent together couldv'e been much more significant if they were to have know she was dying or going to die because now he's having to watch her die or that they spent all that time together working on a stable relationship only to break up. in the corous he then goes on to say ' i tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter' meaning how he spent his life working his way up and trying his best but in the end everyone dies or bad things happen so life is insignificant, then saying ' i had to fall to lose it all' he fell as in lost his partner, and then realised how little anything means or how much timecan be wasted on something that doen't matter. in the second verse i realise not all lyrics fit but afterall this is only my interpriataion, he goes on to describe how they fought and towards the end of her life although they didn't know she was to die she acted like he was 'part of her property' and how she mocked him, ending that little bit with 'i'm surprised it got so far' maybe meaning he was surprised the relationship went on after this point. he then goes on to describe how much things have changed 'you wouldn't even recognise me anymore' since she died or they split up, then saying 'not that you knew me back then' meaning not that she knew the real him when they were together because of how much they fought, he then goes onto to say 'you kept everything inside' which could be interprited in different ways, maybe she knew she was dying but didn't tell him because of the burden it would bring, or maybe how she kept all her feeling locked up inside kind of supporting the idea that she was very cold and distant with him. then right at the end of the verse saying hoe what all the relationship meant to him only reminds him of the time when he had faith in the world and humanity and maybe beieved in happy couples and familys. in the last verse he's describing their relationship how no matter what he trusted her, but then saying 'pushed as far as can go' meaning his trust and forgiveness could only stretch so far before it broke going on to tell her how he did trust he but after everything fell apoart there was no going back. sorry for the long essay, just my opinion. my keys don't work properly but this is the point wherei would put a smiley face.

General Comment:I've decided that this song will be my anthem this summer while I'm rebuilding from falling short in my wrestling season. Damn right I fell apart, and I lost everything I worked for, leaving all my blood sweat and tears to waste. Linkin Park is probably one of, if not the best, at being real with their music. I love how they don't worry about being rich, they don't worry about being famous. They worry about spreading the message of just fighting through the rough times, and earning every second of success.

General Comment:Easy to Interpret: The guy is talking about how much time he has wasted on some girl he was probably with.

And he mentions that he remembers all the times she fought with him and treated him as if he were her property.

He even mentions that he put his trust in her and pushed too far into the relationship and in the end it didn't even matter because she walked off from his life.

He then mentions that she wouldn't recognize him anymore after all the years they haven't seen each other.

He even says: Not that you knew me back then, but it all comes back to me in the end.

Meaning: that the girl he was with barely knew him, even if they were together. and he's starting to remember it all.

The point of this song: Don't waste your time on someone you think you love, who doesn't even care about you, you're wasting too much time. And in the end, you will regret it.

That's pretty much what I got from it.

I can relate to this song 'cause I went through this years ago.

General Comment:To me, this song is about realizing how much time you've wasted chasing after someone (could even be about unrequited love) after losing everything in your life thanks to that person. I also think it's about that bitter feeling that you feel knowing that you lost the fight for that person and his or her approval and love the minute you began it.
I have felt this many times. But, in a sense, that time wasn't wasted. That time that was wasted helped me realize that life is way too short to be chasing and trying to please someone that doesn't even feel the same way about you. So, the time I wasted doing that saved me more time...
    I shouldn't type when I'm tired... lol.
