Lyrics for In The End as interpreted by Matt

In The End Lyrics
It starts with one
One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn't even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when...

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
to lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so (far)
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
to lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
for all this
There's only one thing you should know

I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There's only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
to lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

My interpretation for this one is easy. Basically, it doesn't matter how much time you spend doing something, it's all a waste and no matter how far you get and how hard you try, in the end it doesn't even matter to anyone else but yourself, so just give up. Very depressing song.

I just broke up with a girl who I gave my heart to and I did everything in the world to show her I loved her, I literally did everything except start a war in her name trying to show her I loved her and than she cheated on me for someone else claiming I never loved her... and that I was horrible and than she told me the things she wanted out of a guy...the funny thing is those were my qualities and thats why I love this song....

This song tells the story of two people who used to be such good friends but turned to enemies as things started to stop working.

Whyyyy do people fight on this thing? honestly if you hate the band so much then why did you look up there music here?

To me its about losing someone, maybe in death or a lost friendship. i will explain!
The words are self explanitory no matter what it means. I think its a lost friendship because ive lost friends and the song explains it perfectly.

This song is based off of a poem Chester (lead singer) wrote. Linkin Park generally doesnt say what the exact meaning of their lyrics mean. for the most part, they let the listener decide what the lyrics mean.

I LOVE this song. I can relate to this in so many ways. Right now, I am clinically depressed because my boyfriend, the first love of my life, broke up with me but still says he loves me. Im very confused but I still love him. I'm also going through alot more. So if you're out there Daniel, I still love you. I want you to come back to me.

The video is, according to that one guy in the band, supposed to be about the circle of life. I still don't get the walking statues.

He pushes so hard to get what he wants, to be the person he wants to be, and to acheive his goals, but as he achieves thim, he realizes he never spent the time to keep and enjoy what he did have in the first place, and at this point, it's already gone, making everything he did get useless.

The whole song is an expression of his regret.

a friend and i used this song in our SOR assignment about the environment and how humans are greedy and just take whatever they want from the earth, without thinking about what the world will be like when there is nothing left to take.

we found an awesome video on youtube with this song in in, and at first we were like, meh, the song doesn't fit but we can turn down the song.

then we listened to it and SHIT MAN, it fits perfectly.....have a listen and see for yourself!

Once upon a time...I was going out with this girl. She looked like a cross between Heather Locklier and Maria Carrie(no shit!)and Im this run of the mill chump so you know Im headed for a shitstorm eventually.Anyway she was running from her crazy ex husband and probly me as well(he scared her, i bored her).We used to climb the "west rocks"(this will be familiar to some people).Anyway she took off for the east coast and left me for dead.I just couldnt move on and for like a year i spent my free time going up to those rocks and missing her(useless)Any way i saw this video and it totally hit home. That big statue is something you cant climb down from to chase a girl, shes just too far away.the weeds grow while your wasting time missing her and always hoping in the back of your mind that she'll just show up but its just useless("Wasted it all just to Watch you go")The whale is the bus that you could use anytime to go follow her but your afraid shell just reject you so this holds you back. The singing and stomping(the energy of your unrequieted love) are so powerfull that it cracks the very air and starts to crumble the statue, but despite all your efforts, its still useless, youll never see her again. The sunset is the merciful end of your suffering as you finally are ready to move on.But I could be full of shit too.

In the beginning, you can't find yourself and get a life. And somebody else always looked down at you. Then you try to change who you are to somebody to see. But after you've changed it, it really doesn't matter if to show him or not. Because the whole new you is so amazing and you don't care much about that person any more!!!!"I've tried so hard and got so far, in the end, it dosen't even matter!" In the end, you find your life back.

So the song is telling us to live your life, not to live anyone else's life

This is such a sad song...I totally relate to these lyrics on a regular basis. Ha. But I love this song. One of the best by Linkin Park. They are extremely talented and have been for a while nd probably always will be.

Linkin Park....no other band can so perfectly mix rap and metal. Beasty Boys tried and failed. Red Hot Chili Peppers have discovered as of late that it isn't really their direction...Linkin Park is truly the best.

This song inparticular is a beautiful song; I agree with ScaryGirl, it's about how eventually you will be forgotten. Every last soul on the planet will one day be forgotten.

I always thought it was about a guy who singing about a girl. And all the time that he wasted in a relationship. And now that it's over he's reflecting on all the time that was chipped away. And thinking about how it wasted and it was all for nothing. Then again i think every song is about a girl. :p

i think this song is about life and it's ending.the time flies, you waste your life, watch everyone around you succeeding, you want to be like them, you try hard, but realize that when you die none of it matters, that whatever you did in your life, eventually people will forget about it.the verses are pretty much about how that person lives his life.

still, i can only say the meaning of a song in the way i relate to it, except if it's too obvious.this song can have many meanings.

btw, it's an amazing song

lol @ LinkinParkfan14. This song is terribly overrated... in terms of LP, at least. I'd probably take every other song off of Hybrid Theory over In The End.

this is one my all time favorite songs by Linkin Park i felt really surprised when i first heard this song cause a friend of mine turned everyone i knew at my school against me and i was gonna give up on trying to get my friends back untill i heard the lines `I put my trust in you pushed as far as i can go` that really got to me cause i did trust my friend and when he did that i just did everything i could and went as far as i could go after that i realized i shouldnt give up and a few days later i managed the impossible and got my friends back....GREAT song btw
