This song is weirding me out. It's my life. This song is singing about my life. Like...every line is something prevalent to my current situation...so weird...

I think it might be about the struggle after a break up. I like the interpretation of it being about whenver the guy want the girl she's with someone else... but i think it might be more that he can't have her at all. She has broken up with him, and he is sturggling to get over it, so he uses the night to try and over come things, "And I stumble when this whole thing runs aground". therefore whenver the sun goes down he's left getting drunk and thinking of this girl, leaving her messages and she never gets back to him. and also "too blind to see tomorrow" i see as a reference to drinking.

I love this song, also. :)

i myself take the first verse about young people in love who cant make up there minds up about who they like and want they want "Young and stupid

and i think the chorus is just sayin tht wen u look for someone u cant find them and however hard you try you cant av them
and i think the 2nd verse is sayin that there tryin there best to stay in touch but it just isnt workin out

yeah, in one of their dvds, mark does say he has no idea what the song means.
he wasn't writing it to be about himself, or literal, just about...people in general. like Dysentary Gary, that wasn't ACTUALLY happening to Tom, but it has happened to him in the past, and he wrote it for other people. because that happens to other people every day.

so yeah. there you go.
this is an amazing song.
and an amazing band.

i like the way one line runs into another, it happens twice in the song:
"betray my short attention SPAN the distance"
"it always seemed too far to DRIVE the point home"
notice how the words in capital letters form the end of one sentence and the beginning of another - if u get me.

i dont think mark ment anything by this song, i mean for 1, hes married, but then again i dont know a whole lot about him as a person. anywayz i love the part of the song "hearts are wasted, lives are broken" cuz, ya noe u usually say lives are wasted, hearts are broke...hahaha..
